Looks like a creation by Hayao Miyazaki, e.g., the "cat bus" from his animated movie "My Neighbor Totoro".

Sorry if it has been shown before but I havn't found it anywhere;

http://www.aqpl43.dsl.pi...rosti/francocrosti.htm#b

There was discussion elsewhere about Marklin making a Garrett Bayer but the consensus was no European or US market.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people in Europe that would love to get their hands on one of these monsters. Sorry not the best pic.

Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

More info found:

As a marketing gag, Basellandschaftlichen Kantonalbank of Switzerland commissioned in 1989 the re-construction of a 1961 13 metres long tram of the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) into a wheeled pink piggy bank. In 2001, the "Pig Tram" was withdrawn from service and then passed on to the Baselland Transport AG (BLT), where it was retired in 2012. In 2013, it found a home - no joke - in the German "Pig Museum" in Stuttgart (www.schweinemuseum.de).

Is that two bogies each end?

I suspect this would be a competitor for the DD40, which I have seen in the flesh. Looks like two SD40s on one chassis, long hood to long hood with a gap between them, and without the second cab.

Many locos had two bogies or similar at each end.
All the U.P. Turbines had them including the 8000 hp units which had them on the power section !

UserPostedImage

There was also the U50 which used the bogies from withdrawn Turbines.

UserPostedImage

The twin bogies had a "bolster" conecting the bogies to a central pivot so they became two- twin bogies.

Regards, Colin.

I wonder what the purpose of covering the locomotives was in this case? It's probably not a (good) attempt at aerodynamics for what looks to be a shunter...
