Banania is a French banana flavoured drink. There have been at least two Marklin wagons featuring this brand, one only recently released. This has aroused a certain amount of controversy in France as they feature a slightly comic Senagales soldier, raising charges of racism. An analogy in the UK would be the Robertson's golly as once featured on jars of marmalade.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the pictures of the banana vans. They all look the same to me (not being racist mind you).

I have one banana van, and that was part of a set #47904 produced by Marklin in 2002-2004.

I notice that most available banana vans seem to be the blue box or similar vintage.
I would really like to see more banana vans, but with kinematic coupling.

So I did some research.
Sets or cars produced by Marklin in the last 10 years with banana vans are:
00755 (individually packed cars, relex couplers),
47331,
48759, and
48786.

I cannot find any Trix equivalents.

regards
Kimball

Good evening,

In this context some prototypical information.

1) Several 2002 photos of a German banana express with modern yellow banana vans:

http://www.rodgau-bahn.d...nanen/bananenexpress.htm

2) And here a 1967 b/w photo of a (white?) banana van behind an East German steamer:

Mike,

Do you mean - B1 - the banana van hoarder?

The van is from last years starter set number 29540. Please find an example one for sale on Ebay here.

Will you be at Ian's at the end of the month?
