Hello,

Is it possible to have any of these modules (M 72441 / V 5232) working in pure DCC layouts?

Thank you.

Yes, that is possible. Your decoders must support "brake on DC" (aka. Märklin Brake System). Most decoders do, but some may not. The decoder's user's manual will tell you what to expect. Decoders from ESU and Märklin support brake on DC, most multiprotokol decoders support brake on DC.

If you are using pure DCC, and if all your decoders are e.g. Lenz or ESU 4.0. I personally think you are better off with the Lenz ABC system. This system will brake your locos, but still allow you to operate them in the brake section. E.g. you can move away from a red signal, or pass a signal at shunting speed (if you hit the shunt-function on your controller). Both ESU and Lenz decoders also support passing a signal a slow speed automatically, meaning that if a signal shows Hp2, the decoder will slow the train down and pass the signal. Everything works automatically and can work by itself.

Hi,

My question is because I want to implement one of these modules to my 3 rail layout:

And I was wondering if I can use my current brake modules or if I have to purchase a pure dcc brake module.

Danilo, visit www.bogobit.de. Bogobit sells brake modules for both Motorola/MFX and DCC. Their website does have english language support and they explain the differences in the modules between the two systems.
