In continuation of above issues connecting IPAD to CS2.

I am also facing some difficulties to connect my IPAD to CS2.

Before I was running a cross over cable straight from CS2 to PC (to run my train software).

My new setup is now:

CS2 – switch – PC

In addition I have now also installed a Wireless router connected to the switch (only used for train room – no internet).

I am able to connect my IPAD to the router but not sure how to configure the connection setup on the IPAD itself.

Similar to the PC I guess I have to enter manually the IP address for the CS2? But as soon as I enter a manual IP address on the IPAD under static address I lose the connection to the router?

So do I need to re-configure the router instead?

Below is the settings I use, which works fine:

CS2:
IP Address: 192.168.178.50
Network: 255.255.255.0
IP gateway: 192.168.178.1
DNS server: 192.168.178.1
CAN gateway: Broadcast
Destination address: 192.168.178.255

PC:
IP address: 192.168.178.48
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Train controller software:
IP address: 192.168.178.50

Thanks!

Dear all,

After reading Marklin Digital Newsletter 23.2 I got my IPAD to work.

Basically the suggestion was to simply look at the setting on your IPAD under network and then copy these settings to CS2 and keep it in auto mode (not manual IP address).

However the issues with that is of course that the router may generate another IP address next time you boot up and that would then have to entered into the PC software.

After reading previous post in regards to reserving IP address on router I worked it out reading the manual.

I am using Netgear and it’s very simply to reserve an IP address. See below screenshot.

Even though the router will generate a new IP address (DHCP) each time my CS2, PC and IPAD have now below IP address permanently reserved.

Devices:
CS2: 192.168.1.2
PC: 192.168.1.3
IPAD: 192.168.4

The routers IP address is 192.168.1.1

For the PC software I have now entered 192.168.1.2.

And everything works fine nowBigGrin
