Did the 8723 dining car ever appear in the turquoise/cream livery. I know that the 8720, 8721 and 8722 coaches were produced in this livery, but 8723 only shows up in the red/white "pop" livery. I wonder why Marklin didn't produce a version of this vehicle in the turquoise/cream livery?

I've never seen a model of a dining car in turquoise and cream in any scale.

At one time the DB's dining and sleeping coaches were run by a separate organisation - the name escapes me at the moment. That might explain why the 8723s never appeared in blue and white.

Thank you both for your replies. Some intense googling has unearthed a Roco model in Ho of a dining car in the turquoise/beige livery. Maybe by the time the turquoise/beige livery was introduced (mid 1970s), dining cars were were found on fewer trains (this was the case here in the UK), so modellers were buying fewer of them?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think by the mid 70s that the DSG organisation was no longer active.

WRbumz 139 - Quick Picc [sic]

Those were newly built diners which were delivered in ocean blue/beige. The first three units were delivered in 1975, followed by 10 more units in 1977/1978 - all built for a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Starting 1979, 30 more units were delivered in the TEE/IC colours red/beige which were built for a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Due to complaints about the poor (service) quality, they were converted into "Bordrestaurants" WRmz137 after 1987. More (German) info: http://www.drehscheibe-o...oren/read.php?17,1415382

WRtmh 134 - "Touristik-Speisewagen"

In 1965, 18 "purpurrot" diners WRtmh134 (dubbed rolling fridges due to their large storage) were procured, which were lateron re-painted ocean blue/ivory (thus not beige). 1987 three of them were converted to WRtmh136, operating as cafeteria while the storage area became a play area called "Kinderland". Other units became "Clubwagen" for the tourist train "Alpen-See-Express". None of the WRtmh134 or adaptions is in use any more. More (German) info: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speisewagen
