Hello all.

I am a collector of marklin from the 50's, 60,s and early 70's but lately I have stumbled across 3 delta/digital locomotives and I have questions regarding all 3 of them.

The first two, (3029, 3032), are not responding at all on my analogue layout, no lights, no hum. Do they require one or more of the micro switches moved or is the decoder likely fried?

The details on the decoder say: Nu 701 21B
502940
12A 1310A

3032 Decoder

3032 decoder

The third loco is a 3096 advertised as from the early 70's and in the correct box for that era. It runs fine in analogue but the telex function is a no-show. Is there any way I can use the telex in analogue or would I have to remove the decoder and put back the original reverse unit?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

Dave

Hi,

Set all dip switches to "off". Then you will get the locos to work in analog. Regarding the Telex I am unsure but I would think you need to remove the decoder.

There are Delta decoders that support Telex in analogue mode.
I am rather sure that the decoder in your loco is such a decoder.

The decoder is configured with solder pads that are either set or cleared.
Maybe Telex is configured to work with F1 (for digital use only), but can be configured to work with direction changes (for digital and analogue use).

See the pictures on this site:
http://www.x-train.de/decoder/tips/66032J.htm

Check the spots marked J2, J3, J4, and J5.
J1 is visible on your loco - and it is free.

Tom

Thanks a lot Oliver! I did as you suggested and both locos, (3029 and 3032), are running great.BigGrin

Tom, your advice gives me hope, but I am not understanding how I would make the necessary adjustments on my loco. Would I need to take it to a dealer?

First step will be finding the current configuration (four interesting spots cannot be seen on your picture).
If not correct for analogue operation, second step will be using a soldering iron to adjust the configuration. I'd do it myself, but you can let a dealer do it.
