I recently ordered some plugs for my test stand. I couldn't find any red ones
quickly, and as I was ordering a lot of stuff of Marklin's, I thought I may as well
order some more plugs, etc.

As it turned out, I ordered the wrong ones.!! I didn't realize this at first, but when
I tried to insert the plug in the roller test stand, it would not fit!!

I pulled out the other brown plugs, and compared them to my new red plug.
Nope they were not the same. Now what? Confused

Checked the Marklin site and the description for "both series" of plugs is the same!!
See for example 71415 versus 71422

So now I have a bunch of useless plugs, or can someone tell me what these 7142
series plug can be used on/with/for? Mad

Thanks in advance.,
Regards,
gene

71422 are sockets, 71415 are plugs. A plug and a socket should fit together.

Gene over the years and I think the new plugs have been introduced when they've changed the K 83, K 84 decoders from old to new. what used to be the old plugs for years and years are no longer compatible with the new plugs, the may look similar but you will see by closer inspection the plug itself is thinner and connecting both is also slightly different, they fit into a mould.

the same happen to me before I've realized what was going on. you will find the old plugs and sockets are still available on ebay

Hey guys

Thank you all for straightening me out. I was hung up on the outward appearance.Confused

I had expected the plugs not to be so similar in appearance to the sockets.

I guess I got hung up on "what used to be" I was aware of the design change, but never
have had a instance to have to hook them up together. Consequently never paid attention.
Details get you every time!

Again thanks,
geneBlushing

P S I guess I better match up (even up) the quantities of each
