My dealer just forwarded an email he received from Brenda at Marklin USA saying that Dr Tom Catherall has suffered a massive stroke and is on life support. They are waiting for his son to arrive from England and then will probably remove life support. Brenda will be sending out more information as she receives it.

May Dr Tom and his family be in your prayers.

Robert

This message of yours has got to be the toughest I have ever had to "THANK" anyone.

I am so shocked, I just do not have the words of convalescences to properly express
myself to the family.

I asked about Dr Tom (he seemed to accept that name) at the Eurowest 2014 this past weekend,
and no one had anything to say, or didn't know why he was (representing MAERKLIN) not there.

I missed last year's eurowest, and always had a nice talk with Dr Tom, a very approachable, and
friendly person. He always had a new item in digital to talk about, and was our USA expert.

Here is hoping for a miracle, and bless his family

Regards.

That's very sad news. I knew that he had had a leg amputated, and the last time I spoke to Brenda (mid June), Dr Tom was back home recuperating.

Sad to hear that he has taken a turn for the worst.

Ditto all the above.

I met him at Eurowest in 2005 & 2011, very generous with his knowledge and time, and any literature he had there.

If the worst should happen he will be sadly missed by Marklin Inc and US Marklin modellers, as well as us Digital Newsletter Subscribers !
However lets hope for the best for him

Reading Dr Tom's Obituary, it is obvious that he spent a lifetime helping others, not just us Marklin train buffs.

People of his calibre are few and far between these days, so we feel it all the more when they are gone.

My condolences to Dr Tom's wife Lynette and their family.

I just read the sad news from Brenda's email and I'm shocked.

He had deep knowledge of digital electronics and therefore of marklin digital system.
His Books and newsletters will remain, for many years, a great reference to all users of marklin system

Thank you Dr. Tom for your contribution in the field of train modeling

He will be missed by all of us and not only.

My deepest condolences to Dr. Tom's family.

I was reading daily this thread to have news about Dr Tom's health.

Today I received this very sad news.

I remember that several years ago I asked him some questions regarding the digital system and he answered me explaining things clearly and in a short time.
I quickly realized he was a very friendly person with excellent technical skills.

It is a pity he has passed away.

My condolences to Dr Tom's wife Lynette and their family.

I was with regret that I noted the loss of Dr.Tom Catherall,

He was very helpful to my enquiries when I first got into digital in the 1990's and I also found his digital newsletter of great use as I was starting out in digital.
It is sad to see the passing of such a selfless man; no doubt many Märklin fans around the world celebrate the life of Dr. Catherall.

I was fortunate to meet him once when he came to fisit Pittsburgh, maybe 10 years ago. Very nice man, and clearly loved his Märklin. They should have had him there for a couple of days, not just 3-4 hours.
