Well, it's a kit from the early 1960s (the model first appeared in Faller catalog 1960) and the box looks flawless.
I think the € 89 is a bit on the high end but not super unreasonable.
I think the seller eventually can get the money he wants for it when he came across the right fanatic Faller collector that is looking for a mint B-233....

On 6 July on German ebay a B-223 kit was sold for € 49.

Now we are talking Faller.....

I wonder where the auction of this early 1950 textile factory #214 ends, still 5 hours to go. (LINK)
This Faller 'Werks Fertigmodell' first appeared in Faller catalog 1952.
It is a very sought after model among collectors of 1950's wooden Faller structures & Fertig Modelle.

Not to long ago I've seen one sold for € 600, but the model that's now for auction is in less good condition.

Well, it would seem that perhaps Faller is slowly but surely finding a desired status among collectors.

This is the highest that I am personally aware of, in fact I don't recall seeing that particular kit before, but that would be mainly because the catalogues I used to read the most of were from 1963 onwards.

I see that this particular item 214 was in the 1952 catalogue and was last to be found in the 1958 edition.

Here we have it from the 1955-56 US edition, at the time, $14.95. Not a bad investment if you had a crystal-ball. What would it have reached in mint condition??

For collectors of 1950's wooden models, the Faller #214 factory is the Holy Grail.

Steve, it's not a kit, but a model built by Faller (home)workers aka a 'Werks Fertig modell'.

From 1952 to 1958, the 214 factory was sold for DM 23,= , so twice as much as the price of a big station.
Back in the day DM 23,= was a lot of money, most people earned less than DM 200 a month, so few were sold and this is the main reason why the factory is so rare, as well as the short time that it was in the Faller program.

I don't recall the factory was ever offered in mint condition, most likely because the Griessputz falls down spontaneously after so many years.

The factory that was just sold has Griessputz problems too.
But if you restore the Griessputz, the model is no longer 100% original.
If I was the happy buyer, I would leave it as it is.

Marco
