I would love to have a NZR DJ Class loco on my layout but can not find one available from any manufacturer. Would it be possible to start with a similar looking loco and modify the bodywork? The tri-bo classification probabaly limits possible donor locos. Do any Kiwis have experience modelling this class?

Frateschi make some models of NZR locos including the DA diesels, but I don't think they do a DJ class loco.

@ Kimbull - i'm looking for HO guage.

@ bigdaddynz - thanks for that tip, No DJ, but that G12 Phase I sure is a beautiful, ugly beast (if you know what I mean). I'll search this site now on the possibility of converting a Frateschi loco to Marklin-compatible 3 rail AC.

Hi. If you want an H0 scale model running on narrow gauge track the chassis of this could be a base for your loco.

http://www.bemo-modellba...0c734344b6572722e0e2ab34

This is a Bemo Ge6/6 while for the metre gauge and running on 12mm gauge track it is pretty close to the 3ft-6in NZ gauge.
While the model is articulated it is a B0-B0-B0 wheel arrangement.
Click on the "E" folder on the right for the data sheet.
These come up for sale on european auction sites fairly regularly.

Hope this helps.

Just wondering if they might have some drawings you could copy.

@ EMD_GP7 - Thanks Colin, I'll keep an eye out on eBay for a "cheap" Bemo Ge6/6 that I could hack around with.

@ hgk - Great link, thanks George.
