In the area of the Rambla, very close, don't forget visit also PALAU (Pelayo)
it's the oldest and classical marklin shop in Barcelona.

Two good recommendations : GOTTHARD TRENS and PALAU

And enjoy of Barcelona !!!

Barcelona is a small heaven of train-shops!

My two favorites have already been mentioned; Gotthard and Palau. -But there are many others! (or were, as it is already 10 years ago I was sightseeing in Barcelona...)
Gotthard is a modern two-story shop. (I beleive that they are specialized in Märklin, but do carry other stuff too. Especially Bemo)
Palau is the old kind of shop; Incredibly messy, but you can find the most fantastic items there...

A good trick to find hobby-shops, is to buy a train-magazine at a news-stand and then look for the classifieds... (or just use Internet; but you need to know castellano and/or catalan)

PS: I´ve always thoght that Gotthard was rather far away from the Ramblas, but I´m happy to see Vilithejou says it is not far from the Sagrada Familia...

PPS: Most spanish people speak worse english than you, Anders! ;-) (running for cover)

Hi Anders,
another good option is Rocafort Modelisme in Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 436.
In Palau and Gothard Trens have interesting section in marklin second hand too.
Have a good vacations!

We have had a great few days in Barcelona on our family vacation. I did manage to add in some train store visits. Palau was good but Gotthard was incredible. As I am in Spain, it was only appropriate to buy a Spanish train; the 7200 'Spanish Crocodile' from Electrotren. My first Spanish train and first Electrotren to date. I will post pictures on the the railway at some point. Ohh; and a Fleischmann E60 inexplicably jumped into the shopping bag.

GotthardTrens has a "Collector's Corner" (Rincón del coleccionista) with a bunch of second hand items in very good condition. They publish a list that you can download from here: http://www.gotthardtrens...incon_coleccionista.pdf.

I had one last visit to Barcelona on the way to the airport earlier this week. I managed to persuade my son to sit through a visit to Rocafort if I took him to a nearby toy store. Rocafort is also an excellent shop. It is great to see the retail market is so vibrant in Barcelona - three really great hobby shops in one city and I suspect there are many others. Fantastic!
