Hello friends,
I need some help.
I can't change the factory adress (3) of a Brawa Lok (Bra 40653) for AC with a ESU decoder (Loksound3). I own a Central Station 2 with the last software (3.6).
I tried to change CVs, adress, volume and is imposible.
I have several Brawa loks and all of them work perfectly.
If someone can give me an advice i really appreciate it.
Best regards.
Cpom.

have you added the loksound decoder yourself or did it come with the sound decoder and did you buy it new or second hand.
it may be the case the sound decoder 8 pin plug has to be reversed by 180° ?

Thanks for your answer John,
It's a new one. I bought it during a trip to Barcelona. I live in Chile so i don' t have a brawa Dealer here.
I am not an expert, but never had Problems to change parameters in Brawa Loks.
I don't understand exactly what do you mean with "reversed by 180".
I keep searching and trying.
Thanks again.

Did you register the loco as a DCC loco?
Just enter the new address in the address field on the properties screen, put the loco on the programming track, and press the button with the arrow pointing towards the loco (screen shot shows an mfx loco and address cannot be changed, but for DCC locos the address field is enabled).

Is this loksound decoder version 3 an multidecoder?
If it is so,you must first verified decoder as MM or DCC in yours CS2.
I recommend DCC.
The adress is 3,if not less somebody did changed adresses before you.
Loksound version 3 has 8 pin plug.
Does locomotiv works with the lighing too?
If so,you don´t need to unplug and plug decoder reverse.

If the decoder has another adress,i suggest you search after adress manual by follow CS2 step by step.

DCC = Digital Command Control

Hi H0 and Goofy,
Thanks for your reply.
I am recovering from the painful defeat with Brazil in the football world cup, so nothing seems to go Well.
H0 , i already tried what you sugest. I use the adress 3 and the Lok (a beautiful K Bay P3/5h) works perfect. It runs smothly and i can get 4 sound functions as usual in this kind of loks. The problem is that i have others loks with the same adress. I register it, change the adress, push the button to transfer changues to the lok, tren the mesagge in CS says the changes have been transfered, but nothing hapened. The Lok don't respond to the new adress.
Even i entered in the CVs module in the CS, as the ESU manual says CV1 is for adress, i tried to change it, but it didn't work.
Goofy, i think this is a DCC but Motorola compatible decoder. In CS2 i am not sure how to use DCC sistem.
I thougt to buy ESU lokprogrammer but it seems to work only in PC and i have all my sistems with Mac.
Best regards from Chile

Now you've mentioned something which leads me to another point.

Brawa locos use ESU sound decoders and you said you can get 4 sound functions in fact you should get 8 sound functions.
the decoder would have been programmed by Brawa with an exisitng decoder number and they would have added the next decoder number, e.g. 3 +4. you may haven't been aware of it and this could be the reason you why you can't get the address you're searching for, just a hint but I could be wrong.

Hello River6109,
You are right in the 3+4 adress. If i put the next adress y can use more sound functions.
But this is not a problem with other Brawa loks. I simply choose an adress, transfer it to the Lok , changing the default 3 and the Lok works with the new adress and the next one.
Thanks for your answer.

What does the dropdown list show besides "Decoder type" in the properties screen? Changing the address should work if you see "DCC" or something like "MM programmable".

With DCC you could use 16 functions (with 12 icons created automatically), so obviously you are not using DCC.

Hello Tom,
I checked the decoder type and i find DCC . I didn't see this before but i just update the CS. Mabie it is something new. I tried and it worked. Fantastic !
You win an invitation to come to Chile to know and visit our great landscapes.
I thougt DCC was a protocol reserved for direct current locomotives.
Thanks a lot.
