Hi,

Can anyone identify this particular coupler and part number?
Thank you!

Hi,

I don't know the part-number in the moment, but I know that this coupler isn't available since more than 30 years. It belongs to a coach 4091ff from 1974 onwards. In the late 1980s Märklin delivered new trucks (with shorter couplers) for the price of a coupler when you asked for that part.

Regards

Markus

The new trucks had an off-centre pivot point and were not compatible with the earlier models.
Any Maerklin catalog from the mid-1970s through 1984 should have the parts list that provides the coupler and bogie part numbers.

I believe that the coupler was 70 158 which was the one for the 27cm TEE and T2S coaches with centre pivot point

It was interesting to find this out. I have a 4099 TEE missing these couplers, after checking several wagons I could only find the same on a baggage 4093 and another TEE. Other wagons of the same type and era (actually from the same starter set as the 4093) I also have another 4099 same era, different source from the set but same source as the other 4099 and that one has the other coupler.

I had a look at 1974,77 and 1980 catalogues. I can only find a listing for couplers on the 1980 which list 70 157 but that is the other coupler I don't want. I went through lots of pages on ebay.de yesterday and no luck so I will probably convert it with NEM pockets. I already bought the parts for that but I was having a last attempt to keep it original. Searches for 70 158 bring up things like the 157. Thank you to both!

Hi,

I'm only 99% sure now that the long version was 70162(0). The part appears corresponding to the 4091ff cars and is already disapperared in the 1988 price-list for spare parts.
