We saw in the new items brochure of 1994 (page 14), 30 years later from its release, 10 units of the "same" loco equiped with 6090 propulsion pulling 2108 wagons. At the same time Märklin was releasing the 3722 with the close couplers.

I don't remember when it happened, but at other time a set of several E94/BR194 (100 ?) pulled a real tank wagon.

I wonder to know:
1- If the these Guinness locos had close couplers or the old metal ones.
2- If the new E93 will have the same pulling capacity of the mighty E94/BR194.

There were 196 E94 (actually DR class 254, Märklin model 3335) locos in the Guinness record attempt of 6th March 1994, and they have metal Relex couplers. The first 50 locos were auctioned after the event, with the highest bidder getting loco 001, and so on.

I have loco 002 in my collection, but I bought it at a Christies auction in London.

Nigel

PS. I also have the test loco for this record attempt, which is a Märklin 3322 with special lettering, and was presented afterwards to the sponsor of the event mounted on a wooden plinth with a model of the wagon involved. I think this is a one-off.

Well remembered, Stephen! My loco number 002 is there pulling hard!

Nice to see Mr Topp in charge for Märklin.

Thanks, Miguel!

I like to collect these unusual Märklin models. When people visit my collection, I like to be able to show them some things they have never seen before!

Best wishes,

Nigel
