Here in the UK we have a chance to watch The Great Escape (again) on Sunday at 5.40 Channel 5. The film was released in 1963. It has good footage of some German trains - not sure which - and interior shots of a Donnerbüchse. To add to the excitement a couple of railway stations have central roles in the action. I shall be tuning in...

It has been a long time since I have seen "Von Ryans Express" but I think the train figures prominently there too.

Era 3
DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe
But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

I would also add an honourable mention for Avalanche Express (1979), although the models are not up to today's standards, again train unknown and Unstoppable (2010) - no German trains but Chris Pine and the trains did their own stunt work.

I did watch Avalanche Express with Swiss Railways Electric loco. Great film.

Class 78 with 2 x 329/1 + 329/4. Tail-lights? I missed the number of another loco. Yes - Avalanche Express - important to note no trains were injured in making the film.

Just watched The Wooden Horse (1950) - the first British POW escape film. Walk on part for, I think, a DR03 pulling some fine looking carriages at about 1 hour in. Interesting not only for the trains, but also for the settings which help to bring alive the period that I try to model - solid third rail, tinplate coaches and big blue transformers, that sort of thing.
