Hi all,

I have just completed this Auhagen kit.
It is the first house I have built for my future layout, and also my first attempt at weathering.
The kit was easy to build, and everything fit well. I had great fun building it.

Thanks Peter.

I guess one can never have too much space. I hope I will be able to find room for a small town on my layout.

Hi JK,

I'm a Faller man through and through, but your Auhagen kit is looking real good.
Nicely built too, you have talent for kit building ! ThumpUp

Looks immaculate JK, great job.
Do you have a paper mask inside for lighting?
Any thoughts about painting or weathering?

Auhagen has a series of models in mixed H0/TT scale, i.e. something around 1:100, just like the old Faller models. These "mixed scale" Auhagen models nicely fit with older Faller stuff.

Moreover, one finds a lot of useful scratchbuilding material there, such like gutters. I have renovated several old Faller houses using those Auhagen parts.

Thank you Mark.
There is a paper mask in side, with curtains for the windows. In addition, I have painted the inside of the corners with black paint.
I have painted all parts with matt Humbrol paint. The weathering is done using black watercolors and a small sponge. I was quite happy with the roof and the brick walls. The front walls became a bit more dirty than I had inteded.

Good point(s)!
At times it is time consuming to measure if [u]any[u] kit is 1/87 or 1/100. Any one up for a old Pola adventure?Cool

Can I just add some technical comment about the weathering.

To me the second group of buildings look like the white weathering has been applied horizontally rather than vertically. When you look at the roof of the first building you see the difference. The vertical application is more correct than the horizontal.

Also look at using black to simulate soot, green to simulate moss

and some red an yellow (not a lot) just to add some contrast.

Think about how water flows down a building face and highlight the corners of window sills etc

Cheers

John
