Hi new to the forum and to collecting Marklin.
Primary interest is in the 50's and 60's era.

I'm looking to restore a 3034 loco and I'm just wondering where I could source new parts for the pantograph.

I found on Ritter this part that is meant to be the replacement plastic insulator to go between the pantograph and the roof of the loco on the outside but it doesn't look the same as mine?

http://www.ritter-restau...y=1.4.4;artID=2857;typ=1

Mine have both broken over time in this plastic area. Photo of mine below

Also where would I find springs to suit this pantograph as they are missing as well.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Anton

Hi Anton
Have you seen this?
3034 spare part list

I hope the link works

It seems like the 3034 does not have the insultor between the pantograph and the body. a small insulator is a part of the pantograph 7218
I do not know if your pantograph will fit into the brown insulator.
That type of insulator was meant for older locomotives with an all metal pantograph, like my 3013:
Märklin 3013

Hi Anton,

Pity you did not join a couple of years ago, I was also living in Melbourne then and had a hard time connecting with other Marklineers, but finally managed a small get-together with a couple of others for an enjoyable afternoon.

Your 3034 is not that old of a Loco to need specialist parts, and I would not bother with trying to repair your existing pantograph, the brown bases break quite easily so just replace it, that will give you new springs as well. The assembly should still be easily available as a spare part and I see there are a few listed on Ebay right now.

The old part number is 7218, you might even find that the guys at Frey's down in Frankston may have them in stock. probably around $30 give or take.

The new number is 7207 which is 'interchangeable', meaning functionally equivalant but slighty different design, ie it's black instead of nickle-plated etc but if you can get what was originally with it all the better.

Here's the parts sheet for your model....

Good luck

Cheers

Thanks Steve,
Great info. I'll try Freys and see if they have them in stock otherwise I'll go the eBay route.

You were in Melbourne as well hey. But now I see you are in the land of the long white cloud.
Do you have posted on the forum anywhere pics of your layout or collection? I'm looking for inspiration to put a retro layout together. I got a marklin layout book which is great and now I'm collecting the parts.

There's a great railway store near me Train World but unfortunately they don't stock marklin and couldn't help with my 3034.

Great to find this forum.
Cheers

Anton
