I had intending to come home late last week and then spotted this show in the paper. So I stayed on for an extra few days so that my brother, his wife and I could drive the 150Km to Brisbane for the train show at Doomben racecourse last Saturday afternoon. If there was any Marklin there, I missed it Mellow. Here's some stuff from the folks that did make the effort to go and display their stuff Flapper

As ever, done with the i-might-get-it-right-phone. Blink

The event host, Doomben:

A Hornby freight train with a wonderful mix of British wagons:

the weathered engine:

You tell me...

This guy's N scale was made up of smaller layout peices, allowing some customisation at exhibits

I didn't see any Marklin, but there was a smattering of Trix here and there:

Anyone looking for Australian cattle wagons? Nev?

Lots of N scale layouts like this one. Long track lengths for long consisits.

This is a NSW railways inter-urban set. the logo says State Rail Authority to me, but I could be wrong.
The 'Fish' and the 'Chips' are express services that take commuters from the Blue Mountains to Sydney
All stations to Penrith; then express to Sydney Terminus. Not sure if they start at Katoomba or Mt Victoria...

Queensland!!!
Really, this sums up my vision of Queensland

The Lego display

The legendary 3801 from NSWGR
Legendary depth-of-field photography also...

A DVD player as a Drive-in screen. Playing 'Gone with the wind'

Real Steam 'O' scale

A 'T' scale setup ~ the round object is an Australian dollar coin

I was really disappointed that there wasn't a Marklin display.
You can't sell something that people don't know about. Oh well...RollEyes

It was a good show... Miss 13 and I picked up some more platforms for the layout, some Lego and a 1/16 scale die-cast metal Tiger I Tank.. We also managed to pick up some germs from diseased people at the show - she has been home from school for two days.. Needless to say FD did not get sick, but did admit to a slight headache on Monday morning..

Mrs Kelly and I went, as well.
I picked up:
  • a selection of grass mats from Model-Scene, in particular this stony ground
  • some scenic touches from miniNature, including Lupines and Cherry Blossoms, and others
  • 2 Telephone boxes from Outback Models -- one to be painted red, one to be painted blue with a flashing blue LED on top...
  • a Tyco Chattanooga caboose. Note that yesterday (7 April, 1941)...I think...was the day Glenn Miller recorded "Chattanooga Choo Choo"...
  • a laser-cut wood kit of "J.D. Driggs Shipsmith" from B.E.S.T.
Cheers,
Damon
