Beautiful coaches Frits! ThumpUp

Brawa certainly know how to make nice wagons, and you know how to get lovely photos of them! BigGrin

How do they compare to the Marklin equivalents? I have the Era II versions in coupled pairs, and I consider them my nicest coaches, but these Brawa ones look more detailed.

Thanks Steven! I actually only like the colours on the brown UP and the State of Maine. The rest of them are ugly I think, but they will propably look very good in a real consist. Now I have somewhere around 27 plastic box cars and 2 metal box cars, including the State of Maine one. It will be fun dividing these box cars to my 4 Big Boys. BigGrin

Very nice Stephen! ThumpUp

I now have this model in 3 different colours. The original 4432, like this one, the grey one that came in my Swiss starter set, and the slightly different colour version that came in my new 44140 wagon set.

Good ones all, altho I especially like Frits' Brawa Wagens, and Piet's Beer Wagen. Pleased too for David to have found those USA box cars for his Big Boy Train ThumpUp

Here's a couple of Wagen things that arrive for me this last week;
47718 Water Pipe Wagen, that was "in the Pipe Line" long before Ian's one was Wink
43305 IC Cab Control Car that I got along with two 42862 1st Class Cars and two 42272nd Class Wagens to run behind my recently aquired BR182 which I'll add to with some of my 42861 & 42271 older IC Wagens that used to run with these cars when they were first introduced/repainted

A rather special arrival was this 49981 "Exhibition Car" for Schimmel Pianos. It plays various four old Masters Tunes Digitally and sounds really good. I had to open it up, and turn down the sound dash pot volume control, to almost the lowest setting tho, otherwise the body of the car reverberates quite badly. However the sound is still quite strong enough to be more than prototypical ThumpUp
Note it came with a Piano Brochure, as if any Marklinist would buy a new Piano Scared

Thanks Kristoff,
For everyone those 477xx stake cars have a weakness in both the stakes but more particularly in the bogie pivot pin, which is an inverted slightly funnel shaped thingy, split in two, but moul;ded as part of the car under frame, so it allows the fitting of the bogie (or truck) over the pin. These are vary fragile Scared ThumbDown
I have bought two of the 47713 gas pipe wagens over the years off ebay, and received both of them with broken bogie pins & other parts. The fix was buy two 4771 empty Stake cars, which are still available, and transfer the load over Wink ThumpUp Smile
Now I can hear a few of you saying, why not just put a screw in for the bogie to pivot on, well you see the coupler mechanism moves about right on top of the pivot point, so not possible Glare Cursing

Hi Ian,

Your 4396 set looks in good condition!

Part of the 4396 set was a metal shelf for the 2680 display case, which came in a cardboard tube. Have you got this too?

If not, they are sometimes sold separately, as they are easily separated from the other part of the 4396 set. They are quite rare, though!

No, it fits inside the case, so that the whole train can be displayed, the two 4396 coaches elevated on the shelf.

The shelf is an aluminium extrusion, nicely done to match the rest of the set.

I'll dig one of mine out later on and show you a photo.

Hi Ian,

Sorry, not great photos, but they give you the idea.

Here's my display set on the shelf in my office:

2680 + 4396

and here's a new metal shelf in its cardboard tube. There's some corrugated cardboard inside the tube to protect the metal shelf.

4396 shelf component
