Well, it's morning here and I'm signing in.
I saw a Fleischmann ICE that I like very much.
It has a tilting mechanism that tilts the train on the curves, really nice.
They just don't offer in in AC only DC, bummer.

I'm off to my ETE chapter meeting in a few hours with my modules.
We're touching them up in preparation for EuroWest next month, it's going to be an all day affair.
The chapter has a trailer that carries them to the event and other train shows which makes it easier for the members.
Now many of them have pickup trucks be I don't and when I put them into the car, there isn't much space for luggage.
It's a 8 hour drive from home to EuroWest so I use the diesel Passat.

Hi Rob,

It's nearly 15.30 in the afternoon, I've watched the F1 qualifying and done very little else, we've got heavy rain here.

If I drove for 8 hours, I'd drive all the way thro' England and nearly be in France.Smile

Please send some of the RAIN towards Southern California.

We are in our dry period and have had several brush fires, like 2000 acres burned.

We live East of Los Angeles and EuroWest is on the San Francisco pennsula 1/2 way between SF and San Jose.

I'll post pictures on the form after the event or maybe a link to a photo website.

Ian,

I can just sit here in front of my computer and watch your train videos for hours on end.
I am just amazed at your layout and those of other European modellers.

Hi Marco,

Thanks. ThumpUp

Yes, we have a meeting with 4 or 5 forum members every couple of months or so.

There's a meeting this Saturday (21st).

Maybe, you could attend one time, you'd be more than welcome.

I would really like to see Baden Wurttemberg with my own eyes, and like to meet other forum members.

Can't make it Saturday, because my wife and one of my sons are 4 weeks away to the tropics, and I have 5 cats and two other children to take care off, and I have to make a new floor in 4 rooms in our house, before my wife is back. I promise her that.

But next time....YES.

Have you ever thought of starting a solid centre rail module club ??
16 or 24 sleeper ??
If we can only build it up one or twice a year, It would make me (very) happy.

marco

Ian:

So what is the plan with the layout you currently have, will you continue to build it or will you take it down and move some of it over to the new Train Mansion?

Hi Chris,

Good question, the layout in the cabin will be dismantled and the M track will be re-used in my new hidden station, which will be built below my "new" K track layout.

Ian,

You most probably mentioned it on a few occasions before but I can't get my head around it.

So all the work you've done in the cabin sofar the layout is concerned will be scrapped or do you re-use it ? or is it a matter of dismantling it and moving it and setting it up in the new train castle (the correct english spelling).
bym looking at your new layout plan this actually doesn't resemble anything like the old layout.
What will be saved and how much will you be able to re-use of the structure it self ?

John

Hi John,

Will be building a new framework(s) for the layouts.

The layouts will be at a different (higher) height and shape, so easier to start from scratch and build a new one(s).

The new framework will again be using 70mm by 45mm dressed wood and 18mm plyboard.

Ian,

Is plyboard a Scotish er UK term for plywood, & comes in 1/2" & 3/4" thickness ?

Ian,

I love it when there are long trains 6+ cars as compaired to the branch lines of only 2 or 3 cars.
I run 7- 9 cars on the ETE layout.

You show one reverse loop in the video, but is there another one on the layout to change direction back to the original flow?

Hi Rob,

Yes, there is a reverse loop, so you can again travel in the original direction.

It's at the same area of the layout, but it does involve travelling over/thro' the Turntable. Smile

I just thought, you have a hidden yard below the layout.
So is there a crossover from one track to the other under there that you can also use?

I'm on my "honey doo" day and shampooing some of the carpets here in the house.
The outside temperature is supposed to be about 40 C here today and with the ceiling fans in operation, they should dry out quickly.

Now it's back to work for another hour and I'll check back then.
