I've been hiking in Mallorca and went with their old museeums railway from Palma to Soller.
In Soller we proceed with the 100 year old tram to the port.


Already in the station hall in Soller, I could hear the it to call me.
-and I did something which is so atypical for me, it startled my wife;
-I voluntarily entered a souvenir shop!


-and there in the back of the store it was: A kit of Soller's oldest tram in scale 1:24.


-and then to only 74.50 Euro!

The kit looks really exciting. Here is the entire contents placed on the floor:


All wooden parts are laser cut just to cut out.



All of the cast parts is in a plastic box. There are so many bits!
The accompanying explanation is very instructive with many pictures. There's only one problem, everything is in Spanish!
I sent an email to the producer in Spain and in a few hours, I had a description in English.

That looks like an interesting project. The prototype certainly looks nice with all that varnished teak. I look forward to seeing more of this tram soon.

The base-plate is in thick plywood. I have painted it and assembled and painted the seats.



The seats fits perfectly into the lasercut holes in the base-plate



The "bars" in the seats is painted with a black pencil.

The vehicle body has been painted mahogany-colored internally



The remaining seats is put on.
The parts fit so perfectly together that they almost can hold without glue



The outside is covered with thin 6 x 0.5 lists which will be sanded, painted with a clear gloss varnish, sanded down and varnished once again to get the shiny surface.

Front and back are in place and everything is given a second time clear coat to make the surface dark and glossy.



I put "glass" in the windows and they are ready to be plugged in. It is a nitty gritty work.

The driving position a both ends is nearly finished and can be put into place.



The many windows have one problem: they are a little too small for the holes they have to sit in, so in order that there should not be gaps between windows and frame, I had to insert small pieces of wood as filler.

The ceiling is very nice. It is built around some ribs where a piece of paper with print on is attached.
Thin strips of wood is glued onto the paper to frame the fields.



Some metal castings is included to imitate lamps
It is intended that you should paint them and place them in the marked fields
but I want real light, so I use some 5mm LEDs instead. They have exactly the same size, just add a "socket".



The diodes are connected with a thin wire.



Eventually the whole thing is given a clear varnish - even the paper.

The entrance at both ends should have a vertical shaft with some horizontal supports.
It is intended that you should make the vertical bar of a piece of enclosed 1.5 mm brass wire.
The horizontal holders are molded.



I choose to do it a little different. First, it is difficult to make coiled wire perfectly straight again, and one of the supplied holders is too short because of a mold problem and they look a little too rough.
I just had some 1.5 and 2mm brass tubing lying myself to make new parts. It looks much better!

Excellent stuff Jørgen.
Whitemetal can be tricky to work with, and from the photos the whitemetal casting quality is relatively good, but the brass replacement handrail knobs look much better. The lighting is also a nice additionThumpUp

They even have a motorisation kit, so this great model will run on G gauge (LGB) tracks.

...except, this model is narrow guage = 45mm.
Also notice that the wheels delivered with the model is purely for showcase. They can hardly turn, so if to make it run, you will have to use their kit or make something similar yourself.

The frame is difficult! The parts do not fit perfectly. The Assembly Guide indicates that you should file a bit off to get the bars here in place, but it's actually quite a bit to file off.



Without my little mill it would have been a grim task



Several places, 2mm holes have to be drilled lengthwise through the 4mm plywood. It requires a steady hand.

The roof is assembled by rods which are glued on, filled and sanded down so that the surface is completely smooth. Here, it has been painted. The rest of the car is protected by domestic films.

So I've finally finished.
All in all an excellent kit for the price. There was a shortage of some materials at the end, but I could happily add from my own stack. Here are some pictures of the finished model. Note that I've added light, it was not part of the kit.
