Bordeaux yet? No time for Penfolds Grange/Hermitage?

I am positively undone.

Hi John
No restoration, it is original Märklin, except for the axles (original wheels were falling apart from Zinkpest)
In fact it is not perfect, there are small paint damages on the sides
The "perfect" roof is an original Märklin spare, not a repaint.
That roof in itself was a bit of luck: it was found in the 70's at a long time Märklin dealer in Brussels, untouched, in its original brownish silk paper wrapping...OhMyGod

Hi Ian. The van to the right was bought about 6 months ago at a local store near San Francisco for about $17, US. It didn't have a box for it at the shop so it ended up coming in random box. It doesn't have a number stamped on it anywhere either. It is a more recent model as the whole thing is plastic.

Nev:

Nice looking wagons.

Banana Depot

managed to complete a diorama base on Sunday afternoon to stage some of my compliment of banana wagons - with a little help from an E-63 and E-60.

UserPostedImage

Old banana style wagon with the figure painted on from Jaimaca

UserPostedImage

Decal style banana wagon from Jaimaca

UserPostedImage

New style, but now from Ecuador

UserPostedImage

E-60 with new style and one without any paint/decal, yet it is yellow - therefore does it qualify as a banana wagon?

UserPostedImage

And finally the full Banana Depot.

Pictures were taken outside by a Canon Ixus 90 on a tripod.

Ian if you are asking about Chris's banana wagon situated on the right, it looks to me like your basic fridge/beer wagon, but painted in the Jamaica style. They are most probably the old 44xx numbered and specially done for a certain year - could even possibly be a very early insider model.

MMRCSA:

Really nice photos. The wagons look great. And you are correct about it being a basic beer / fridge wagon, no doubt about that. On the underside of the wagon it says Marklin but it doesn't say "Made in Germany." I don't know if that narrows it down at all.

Thanks Chris and Ian (B1)

The Banana depot is my 'breadboard'Laugh . I had a look to see what stuff I had left over from the modular and came up with a city backdrop. It's great fun and very theraputic in building a 'breadboard...errr..dioramaLOL .

As I said I took it outside and used my wife's dead rose bush and the plum tree as background. Worked rather well I thought.ThumpUp

Hi B2,

As if there is not enough confusion within this topic, I seem to be adding to it.

This is with regards to my "breadboard".Smile

How this came about was, I built my small diorama's on our kitchen breadboard.Wink

Now I have started building my "breadboard mk2", which I hope will give my diorama's a more elaborate setting.

So, once I have my "breadboard mk2" complete, then my diorama's will sit within it.

Does that make any banana sense. Smile
