Eric,

Although your list is very comprehensive, Rookie may enquired about the loco that was never completed around the 2nd world war.
Märklin model e.g. 3702 etc etc.

Hi Rookie,

As you were asking for some pictures, have a look here:
http://www.osterthun.com...s40-59/Baureihe~53KL.htm

You can click through to either the Deutsche Reichsbahn or Deutsche Bundesbahn models, there's a neat selection of pictures behind each of the two links.

With the numbers provided by Steven, you could probably track some of the models on eBay. I am sure there are sellers who will ship worldwide and to your home. Good luck!
Sander

That's a condensing tender: steam is converted to water which can then be supplied to the boiler again (and the water is already warm, so it saves coal).

This is good for areas with limited water supplies and allows the loco to run longer trips without stop.

The loco is less visible because it exhausts no steam - this is important during wartime.

Tom

From the 1980 Marklin catalog description of model 3102:

"In 1943 the German State Railways initiated the development of a superheavy freight train locomotive. Main features
specified were: a train of 1700 tons to be pulled up an 8% incline on a curve of radius 360 metres at a speed of at
least 20 km/h (12.5 mph), maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) in either direction, axle load 20 tons. Many designs were
submitted. One of the most interesting was the Borsig I, which was a Mallet-type machine wtth 4 cylinders. The front
end Of the long boiler was mounted on a swivelling support on the front driving truck. The design was for a simple
yet powerful machine. As things turned out, however. this locomotive, with its double Heusinger reserving gear, was
never built. It is now brought to life in this Marklin model."

There has been some suggestions that the Br53 manufacture was commenced, but never completed, due to World War II.

This error was corrected in the 150 Years Märklin book: there is no evidence that any part for this loco has ever been built.

An eye whitness saw parts of a loco that were much bigger than the BR 52 he normally saw.
But it seems he only saw parts of a BR 42.

Please note: there were IIRC 17 proposals for the BR 53 - and they never decided on one of these designs.
It is still possible that a manufacturer started to built this loco without order and on own expenses (but extremely unlikely at that stage of the war).

Several models of BR 53 proposals have been built before Märklin made the 3102.

Tom

Hi, rookie,

The BR 53 in scale 1:1 existed on paper only. I believe that no part has ever been built for it.
