Only 3 of these unique steamers were built.
05 003 was the last in line.

Noting that M 39054 is again reflecting the 05 003 in era 2,it is most likely a color variation to the red 39053.
This way, productioncosts can be kept under control.

My guestimate is WW2 color grey, perhaps even with the German eagle at the fronts.
Compare with the 05 003 from Micro-Metakit 97107H (going price around USD 2,700.-):

This steamer was really unique: only one was built "cab forward".

You are correct.

05 001 and 05 002 were streamlined,but not cab forward,only 05 003 was cab forward.

I think the 39054 was a MHI edition such as 37047, 39051.

Just speculation: Is this Borsig Edition #5, to be announced with the fall new items?
Delivery for #4 is expected for Q4/16, so I'd expect delivery of #5 in 2017.

And I believe that by 1944, 05 003 had been changed to a regular cab configuration. The cab forward had been difficult to operate.

Correct, the 05 003 was changed back to a regular steamer in 1944 (says Wikipedia).

The announcement of the new model says it is a version of the DRG era 2.
If it is indeed a cab forward version of the 05 003 it must be the grey WW2 version,i see no other alternative given the parameters.

Micro-Metakit also issued a WW2 camouflaged version of the 05 003.
I doubt whether Marklin would like to copy that one,but you never know:

That would be interesting model, and very different from Marklin. They have only done one camouflaged loco? Am I right!!

I know they have done a Br53 in a strange black and white camouflage, which to my mind dodn't look correct at all. Not sure if there was another one as well.

Marklin have always been very careful not to mention any reference to WW2,even for grey DRG models, including electric loco's like the E94 in grey.
As such, they have sofar not issued camouflaged WW2 items as far as i know.
Other makers have been more relaxed about that.
Do recall Liliput issued at least one steamer with text "Raeder muessen rollen fuer den Sieg" ("Wheels must move for victory") on the tender sides.
For some reason i think Marklin will stay out of this.

Only a couple of sleepless nights and we know.

The BR53 was just a designstudy,it never ran in actual practise.
As such, any camouflage on a BR53 is pure fantasy.

The Cammo on the br53 was for the eastern front snowy conditions. Also just lately Marklin have produced a train of Cammo Me109s on flat cars.
http://www.maerklin.de/e...ts/details/article/45090

And the br53 was done in Green/ white and with Black wheels.
Here's one:-)

The BR53 was also done in socalled photocolors, that is black and grey.
The 3302 is still on my shortlist.

Strayed a bit from the original thread but the camo pattern on those Me109's is no where near anything from reality. Busy contemplating repainting mine.
