I was looking at this ACME model of a type 1959 couchette coach
http://www.eurotrainhobb...ach-2nd-class/p13587c424

and the layout of the washroom windows seemed abnormal to me. As far as I can remember from my time in Europe (mainly Switzerland) in 1971-1972, most of the FS coaches that I had seen had one WC window at either end of the coach. I do not remember seeing a double window as depicted on the ACME model.
I have photographs from various editions of "Die Gotthardbahn" by Marti and Trueb that do not show this double whited out windows. When we travelled from Switzerland to Florence, we travelled on such a train with couchette coaches in day set up. I do not remember the coaches having this double window and my recollection was clearly one WC at each end. I have not been able to find any train photos taken on the trip.

I found one sketch on an Italian website that appeared to show a diagram of such a coach, but the description mentioned an AcBc of type 1957. I have not seen a photo of an actual coach though.

When I have found photos, many of them show the other (gangway) side of the coach without the WC windows, so not much help there.

I am trying to put together a train to recreate that trip to Florence for my collection and am not certain if the ACME couchette is the right one.

Your assistance is appreciated.

Regards

Hi Mike,

In the document at the link you posted:

http://www.treninscala.it/storia_fs/docs/carrozze_FS_tipo_1946_1955.pdf

is written that in some series three toilettes (in Italian: tre ritirate) were present, so I think the model could be correct.

I am not able to read the UIC number on the side of the FS coach, so I can not check if it is included in the coaches series with three toilettes.

Cheers

Renato

It's a very nice model, Mike. I guess you just pop the Märklin couplers right into it, No? Peter Cool Cool
