I've ordered some spare parts for my 2 SBB cargo locos, it gives you the spare part number and you have to buy them in a plastic satchel as there are a few parts put together, e.g. winds screen wiper, horns, small parts for the roof and the items I really wanted was the light defusers, suppose to be 4 in the satchel, received it yesterday and yes you guessed right, they weren't in it.

apparently they are out of stock but no body tells you this, so because they are out of stock they don't include it in the satchel and send them of with out them.

on the spare part list it shows clearly they are part of the parcel, they charge you Euro 6.00 for them

also had a Roco spare part satchel which came with the loco but this should have included buffers but they were missing as well.

Have you e-mailed Marklin to complain and asked them to send the missing parts when they have come back into stock (I am assuming that you bought the parts directly from their website)? I am not sure whether you are covered by EU distance selling protections (given that you are in Australia).

What do you mean by light diffuser? Is the the light channel (the plastic piece that conveys light from the bulb/LED to the headlights)?
Which model are you referring to? There are many SBB Cargo locomotives.

You mention a Roco spare part satchel. Does that mean that you are referring to a Roco model or to a different model?
AFAIK the buffers are mounted on the model at factory and are NOT spare parts.

What is/are the model number(s) involved?

Carim, I've just received an email from Märklin pointing out from their point of view there are no clear plastic headlight defuser included in the satchel and I've written back, their own spare part list shows that they are included.

The correct model number is 37446.

I have that model, as well as the Trix 22631 (SBB Cargo) and 22636 (Crossrail 185).
There was a misprint in the instructions, where some of the images show the metal 36851/36606 instead of the correct model.
If you are referring to the plastic lenses for the headlights, they are indicated as part of #6.
I don't think that the term light diffuser or light channel would be understood. I would enquire with Maerklin whether the "lenses" are included.
Diffuser would be the part of the lighting kit installed inside a coach that distributes light throughout the coach. Light channel is the part which conducts light from one end to the other, usually used for headlights or taillights where the bulb is not directly adjacent to the light, for example, the top headlight or dual taillights from one centrally positioned LED/bulb.

The Trix 22631 has the glass parts as 132522 http://medienpdb.maerkli.../2/pdf/22631_betrieb.pdf

Here is the part list for the Roco BLS Re 486:
http://www.roco.cc/doc/ET/1/DE/73651_202779.pdf

Spare buffer caps are available on their own as part #17 (123003) (EUR 1,30) and are not part of any other bag.
If the little pins are broken you will have to replace part #30 (124668) as well.

And that bag should include a different buffer beam that can be used when the coupler was removed.
But buffers must be removed from the pre-installed buffer beam and re-used with the new buffer beam from the bag.

Trix sometimes include larger buffers in the goodies bag for showcase use. But I think I never had that with Roco.

Tom

Tom, I'll must have another look , I know one has to take the buffer beam off to be able to remove the housing, I may have put them somewhere else, thanks for that.

John

Had a reply from Märklin and they are sending the headlights direct to me.

The headlight plastic in the PDF diagram: "6 Steckteile E132 518", is generally translated as "plug parts" - covers the light plastic, the windscreens, seems to be all of the clear plastic bits on the locomotive.

Tom, you're right, I have taken them off to be ab le to take the housing off but I forgot and used the spare one out of the satchel without realizing I had the buffers in another container for safe keeping (lol)

Märklin has apologized, apparently an error has occurred and they are sending me 8 sets direct.

Marklin is being a little crazy: I ordered 2 spare parts for 12 Euros, simple hand rails, the shipping was listed at 45 Euros! I can see some handling is involved, fair enough, but when the shipping reaches that amount it is greediness and taking your customers for a ride. Unfortunately my office assistant placed the order with my Amex so the deal is done. I sent my sister a box of papers to the UK from the US and it cost, in Euros, 12!

Yeah - that is their default minimum charge for countries outside of the EU, regardless of the cost or size of the item. I would only buy directly from them for a special model that was hard to get from dealers. That situation is rare, but it does happen at times and I have an account with Märklin just in case.

I recommend that you find small parts elsewhere. I get most of mine from individual eBay sellers. I have also been able to order parts from Germany through AJCKids and they are a great resource here in the US.

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

The problem is shipping companies. The only tracked parcel service line ups/fedex/DHL are $40+ to ship to destinations outside if the EU for the box. It's not Märklin that sets that price. They or any business, won't send an uninsured untracked stamped package, which would be cheaper.

Eh a book from Märklin could ship via printed matter rate for books and it would cost $10 but that isn't tracked.
