I realize this is a Marklin(Maerklin) site but I was wondering if I am the only one who is impressed with the Brawa Epoch I & II rolling stock? I am also wondering why Marklin has not stepped up to the plate with similar unusual freight cars and pretty well detailed rolling stock in quantity? I do not mean that Marklin is devoid of detail or diversity, it just seems that Brawa is eating their lunch. In particular tanker cars and freight wagons with owner markings. I have a lot of Marklin pieces (way too many!) that are excellent, in particular the 48164 Insider Tank Car, which is really nice. I notice Trix is venturing into a larger unusual area of freight cars. But is Marklin? Do you think Brawa is taking the lead away from Marklin?

Brawa has found a niche for itself making highly detailed models of unusual prototypes. Marklin, and other mainstream manufacturers, generally make models of common prototypes that people are familiar with.

Having said that I have a few lovely Era I freight and passenger cars from Marklin with excellent details, so they have not totally abandoned that market.

i have also found myself buying a Era2 two High capacity coal car set from Brawa, and like it. If I could afford it I would buy more Brawa. i have also been buying some Lilliput and Roco freight sets too.Mainly for the variety they offer for my preferred Era.

Brawa are excellent but you pay for it, though sometimes you can pick up some great deals.

Gee mate, I wouldn't let too many people know that you are buying Brawa - Marklin might accidentally lose your next Insider package.. Crying
