A 72 year old gentleman addicted to the Swiss railways.
When speaking about the prototype,he says he can watch them all day long provided he has access to a case of beer.
Sounds plausable.

Meanwhile (in January 2011) the gentleman in the video has passed away, and his layout was probably dismantled/destroyed. Sad

No.

No offence please,i was NOT intending to offend you in any way.

Just curious why you did know and I did not, that is all.

And I hate negative smileys,no need for that really.

Cheers,

Paul

I love how they German TV station dubbed the Swiss German into high German...though it makes sense once the French speaking folks arrive...

The mechanical relay driven complex.. wow, that's a labor of love. In the modern digital world not necessary, but a fun bit in its own right.

As the guy said, when he's dead they can tear it down and put in a proper apartment on the floor; I'll be gone and won't care anymore. I do share his sentiment on retirement though.. if I get layed off in my 50's I'll also cheer so loud you can year it from miles away. (assuming the markets have not gone into the tank by then)

The fact that he can call up and activate trains by dialing up locomotives on a phone system.. now that gives one some ideas... especially of one runs some tracks out over one's deck.
Just what I needed, to start thinking about how I could call up a specific train to get switched out to a special run to exit the house and do a once around the yard.... Getting way ahead of myself.
Toys of tin and wood rule!

The video has now died as well. At least when I tried to access it from here.
