I just completed my first digital conversion on a 3147. I used a 60944 Motor Set and a decoder from 60760. I needed to file off some metal at the bottom of the frame to fit the new motor in. Otherwise, it was not very difficult. I'm using a MS2 and the locomotive runs fine with one issue. I can't adjust the braking delay time. No matter what value I set the delay or what speed the loco is running, the braking delay is always the same. It takes about 10 seconds from the time I dial down to a complete stop. If I turn off the Acceleration/Braking Delay, the loco will jump to speed or stop quickly as expected. Anything else I need to do to make the braking delay works? Thank you.

The 60760 decoder is different to the standard Marklin decoders in that there is one setting for both acceleration and braking instead of two separate ones. When you register the loco on the MS2 use one of the "60760 loco" entries in the database and you will then get the right options in the menu.

Thank you, Ray. I registered the loco to 36850 as suggested in the instruction. Now I registered the loco liked you said and it is working. I think the confusion is the menu still shows Dec, but I chose to ignore it and adjust Acc only.

Glad you got it working.

I have a 3147 and also a 3072, both of which needed upgrades. The 3072 had a Delta decoder in it as it was one of my early conversions, whereas the 3147 was fitted with a 6080 decoder.

I recently bought a couple of 60944 motor sets, but I was daunted by the amount of filing I would need to do to get the magnet to fit, so in the end I fitted the 3072 with a Hamo magnet and a Lokpilot decoder. This was a much easier conversion and she runs quite smoothly even with the 3 pole motor. I will probably do the same with the 3147, but you have made me think about having another go at using the 60944.

Hi all,

Some time ago, I converted a DB212 Diesel using a 60760 kit, using motor and decoder.
It was very simple conversion.
(Not absolutely sure what Marklin loco number it is)

I recently purchased another similar loco (3072 V100) with the intention of another similar conversion.
I was then surprised to read in this thread that it required a 60944 motor kit.
And indeed, when I opened the body, it does seem to require a 60944.

So, the DB212 has a different motor from the 3072. Picture attached, the front is the 3072, and the back is the DB212, you can see a slight change in colour and the road number is different, but the rest looks the same.

Can you please indicate more clearly which part of the 3072 you had to file down to get the 60944 motor to fit ?

Many thanksBigGrin
John
