I am facing a problem with my 3099 analog loco's speed control.
Even if i only apply a little power to it from the transformer,it still runs way too fast.
I have changed the carbon and wire brushes, which has made no difference
Has anyone experienced this before or got a fix
I would be greatful of any ideas
Thanks
Allen

Hi Allen,

Welcome to the forum.

What kind of transformer do you use? Do other locomotives operate as usual?

Regards

Markus

Hi, Allen,

I once had a second-hand 3039 that always ran at the same speed, no matter which voltage I selected on the M* transformer.

Turned out that a pair of cables was off at the rotor of the motor, so two coils where dead.

I re-solder the wires to the collector and loco worked fine again.
Regards
Tom

Thank you to all who gave me suggestions to solve my problem with my Marklin 3099 running too fast.
I digested all the information and decided to change the armature or rotor.
It worked and has brought the loco back to its normal speed.
Thanks to all

Allen
