Hi all,
Much to my joy I recently came across a CM800 in my small collection.
I had thought that this was a 3000 as labeled on the box!
The clue was that the instructions were for a CM and CE 800(!) and on further inspection I found on the right side CM800 above the road number 89029.
After looking through some old catalogues I have a rough idea of how old this loco is. It first appears as CM800 89005 in 1954 and lastly two years later in 1956 also 89005, from then on it becomes the 3000 in its various forms.
It has only two head lamps of the small bulb type and a reversing lever.
With no date code on the box or instructions I am assuming that it is from the mid 50's and it still runs as new. So smooth and quiet with more pulling power than some of my new engines.
I would suggest that it was run for a few years and then put away somewhere cool and dry as there is no rusting of the running gear and no sign of little wear on the slider or drive gears.
The road number leaves me a little puzzled as I have been unable to find it in any of the catalogues that I have, can anyone help?

Yep ypor correct Steve!!!

I have had a look and its V7 with maybe another 7 but on the bottom of the box is 2171.

The only numbers on the front of the instruction brochure are TAN 0155 k under the Marklin bike symbol followed by CM 800 100/3 .

I am happy to know the rough age and even happier that it runs so well.

I did think that the numbers on the brochure were similar to the later codes and as TAM 0155 k could be read as manufactured January 1955(0155).

Either way I have an old loco that still runs like new!
