Hi!

I just bought a set of the Märklin 43859 Tee Bavaria wagons. It's a really nice set that I like a lot. However I wonder what would be good Märklin wagons to go with the set? I'd prefer the scale to be the same, 1:93.5. I've treid to google it but couldn't find any suitable ones. Any recommendations?

Thanks!
Dennis

I would rather suggest getting suitable engines. The TEE Bavaria from what I have understood often was operated as a 3-coach train. A short description of the train is provided by Wikipedia.

The suggested set 26557 would of course be an option if you would like to run a longer train.

For the German part of its run a DB BR 218, for instance the 39186, could be a choice for pulling the train.

Three coaches are enough for a prototypical Bavaria. You might add one or two passenger coaches for a peak-time Bavaria, using 26557 as mentioned or from another 43859.
Coaches from 00776 have other destination boards, but will be OK otherwise.
With the 26557 you have two dining coaches and either of them can be used.

The dining coaches that come with 00776 and 43859 are 1:97.5.
I think the dining coach from 26557 is 1:93.5.

Tom

Hi! I have a few 218's so that part is not a problem. The 218 is, by some strange reason, my favorite loco so I have got a few different models. One good reason to get this set :)

I've checked them both and I think the solution is to find a single wagon from the 43859 set or from the 00776 set. Looks nice.

Thanks!

That is interesting to know. When I have such a short train I always feel like I need to add more coaches. I guess it is a combination of my American passenger train experience combined with not yet knowing all that I should about German train consists.

Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

A V 200 with two TEE coaches can be a prototypical TEE train (I think we had that in the topic on short trains). Back then TEE was first-class only.

The TEE Bavaria usually had three coaches after it was changed from SBB RAm to loco-hauled trains. Sometimes there were more when trade fairs led to higher demand.

The possible add-on coaches would be the SBB WRm from the 26557 Set or the red one 43874. You could also add an extra Avum coach in the TEE colours. This was available as a single model under the number 23421. I have seen the three coaches from the 26557 Set offered on their own on ebay.de quite regularly. The train consist was normally three coaches, but on a few occasions, the train operated with additional coaches, notably during Oktoberfest (annual) but also during the 1972 Olympics. On some runs, the additional coach was a TEE Avum/Avmz, but on others it was DB Pop coaches of the Aum/Am202/203 types.
