So far as I remember now only a couple were issued in the 60's, those should be 3011, 3023 -right in front of me- and probably 3024 green version of the same.

Well guys, I just received my Hamo # 3011 I got on ebay. Seems to be in good shape but missing one traction tyre. As it had no box etc I need to know if I have to take off both front and rear trucks to take off the body and check to see everything is ok and replace both traction tyres. Thanks Ed

Hi Malin,

I uploaded the manual for 3011 to:

https://dl.dropbox.com/s...014-68311-an-1057-en.pdf

You don't need to remove the trucks. First remove the headlights. The screws for the body are in the middle on both ends of the locomotive.

Markus

Hi guys, sorry to keep going on about this loco but after I downloaded the manual from Markus I decided to take off the shell and change brushes , tyres and slider. As I did not have any parts in stock I went on ebay looking and I noticed the body has a hole in each side.I happened to be in tufftuffde site from Germany at the time and saw he was selling e44 shells with no holes. On the next page he had more e44 shells with holes. they both have same running number. What gives here. Are the ones with hole Hamo and without Marklin or is this a plot to drive me mad, because its working. Hi Eddie,

The holes are for oiling the motor without removing the body. I don't know exactly when Märklin removed the holes but it was around 1975. In these years the E44 was still in the PRIMEX-assortment (3008) and was also offered as kit - version (3911) to build a Märklin - Loco. The differences between the PRIMEX and Märklin-kit are small: The PRIMEX-loco has no RELEX-couplers, the newer type of panthos and is missing some paintings on the roof.

Regards

Markus

I dont think that would be a very good way to oil the motor. All you could do is put your oiler in the hole and hope for the best it hit the right spot
