Well I just completed my first chassis swap, motor swap, unsoldered and re- soldered some wires and lo and behold everything works. I had to modify a chassis from a cl. 18 which was a non runner to fit under the 3089. I had to change the rear truck and take a part of the front off. I have the service manual on pdf file so I studied page 7 till I was sure I knew where all the wires went. I had to go very slow with the soldering as my hands shake, but I unsoldered and resoldered a bunch of wires. Put the loco on the layout ,cranked the trottle and away it went, no sparks or smoke. Works great so I am happy to at last be able to run the 3089.No loco is safe now I know I can fix simple stuff . It might not be great to a lot of people but I think that was a good mornings work. Eddie Cool Cool Cool

Well done Eddie! ThumpUp

It's no small achievement to swap a chassis from one type of loco to another!
