I found this image (screen grab from a YouTube video) showing what appears to be a Roco Sggmrs type container car with 45 foot Samskip containers.
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/g...Ji-l2A/maxresdefault.jpg
I was previously aware of the model with 45 foot Geest containers as well as the ones with 40 foot Geest or Van Dieren containers.

Does anybody know the model number for the car with the Samskip containers? Is it an official model. I could not find it listed using my usual reference sources.

Here is the full video (at 1:45):

Mike, could it be an ACME model? ( http://www.laborsadeltre...=17137&img=immagine0 )

Hector Rail is a Swedish freight train operator running container and semi trailer trains from for instance Germany to Sweden.

It could also be that the Samskip container is a Herpa container as described in this German language posting at the "Drehscheibe" forum:

your answer is: Rocky Rail, I will be getting these cars in the near future about 50 of them, they are all metal and not cheap.

To me it looks like the Rocky Rail ones are Sdggmrs and they are loaded with semi trailers, not containers ( http://rocky-rail.com/nl...1_1=Zoeken...&back=1 ) whereas the one in the video are Sggmrs and Roco had for instance the 66571 with the van dieren containers ( http://www.roco.cc/de/pr...0-0-003001/products.html ).

The video shows Roco Sggmrs wagons according to the information given: "Der entgegenkommender Zug, eine Roco Re 484 Cargo SBB mit Roco Doppeltragwagen von Van Dieren, Samskip, Geest, P&O, NYK, Unit45, Wan Hai und China Shipping." (The oncoming train, a Roco Re 484 Cargo SBB with Roco Double flat car of Van Dieren, Samskip, Geest, P & O, NYK, Unit45, Wan Hai and China Shipping.). However, I cannot identify any Roco Sggmrs (or other container wagon) with Samskip container.

The screen grab photo definitely shows a Roco Sggmrs with Samskip container. UserPostedImage

I have 45ft Samskip containers (Herpa) from the Maerklin NL car 47051.1. I also have Herpa Geest and Ge-Ex containers that I bought on ebay. They likely came from Trucks or from special models put out by Herpa. I have the Kombimodell car with the Van Dieren container. I also have a Samskip 40ft that Herpa sold in a set with a Hamburg Sud container. I think the model number was 76449.
I saw the ACME car. The containers do not look like the one in the photo above.

I know that there are new Samskip, Geest and Ge-Ex container cars announced for 2016. I also saw a Roco 47112 with 4 foot Geest containers on ebay this week.

I wonder if Roco, like Herpa, might have done special models for private companies that were not listed as regular models.

Sorry, missed that, one thing is for sure they don't last long and there seems to be a strong demand for these cars and not cheap when you try to use 15 or 20 of them.

Hi Guys, on a slightly different note but sticking with Container wagons I have the issue of this one clipping my C-Track turnout lanterns namely a Curved point. Have any of you got similar issues?

Dave,

is that a 47445? I have not had any issues with my Maerklin Hupac or DB Sdgkkmss type cars (47440-449/453/456) etc.
Does the problem occur in either direction or only when the car is oriented in one direction?
What part of the car is interfering with the switch track? Is it the yellow valve? As an add-on part, that could probably be removed if it improves operation.

Regards

Hello Mike, yes it is the #47445. It connects with my 24612 point namely the lantern & it is the underside (lower body) of that wagon that catches. I have a similar issue with my red arrow but that is a know issue. It occurs in either direction & the point does not have any higher elevated surface that any of my other one's. I think I will have to do some more experimentation on this when I have time. I thought it might be a common issue with other users as well.

Kind regards

Dave...

I checked my curved switches and I noted that they only have the toggle and do not have the lantern installed.
Maybe this explains why I did not have the same issue as you.

Mike from my side Marklin did not put a lot of thought into it when the designed the Turnout lanterns. So many of my rolling stock & locos connect with them & have often snapped the head off completely. I have one set of coaches (DB Personenwagen Doppelstock) for example :http://www.ebay.de/itm/Trix-234...pur-H0-OVP-/271999033132 that go only one direction on one line to avoid snagging the lanterns not to mention catenary masts due to their length. Frustrating at times.
