Guess that says it all, well other than has anyone tried and if so which ones did you use ? I have a spare set (somewhere RollEyes) for a BR 24 which i had intended on using to replace the Whittles on one of mine.

I plan on doing a camo paint scheme on one of my BR53's (3102) when I do a motor conversion and bung a sound decoder in it at some stage and thought I'd swap the deflectors while I am at it.

Since it would have been a 43 to 45 loco I would imagine that it would have been made with Wagner and not Whittle smoke deflectors. In fact it puzzles me that Marklin never did a version with them.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

After that you'll need to add a photo to the monsters and mutations thread :) I don't know the problem is what to use that work, I don't have a 3102 but I thought the 3003 would be too small. This is ridiculous but don't you have an HR800 laying around? I think I would seriously think of buying a sheet of thick enough brass, cut it and shape it to fit.

Hi, other option is to get deflectors from a bigger loco as spares, 01, 03, 45 comes to my mind....

When we look at the war locos that were built, BR 42 and BR 52, then I think BR 53 would have come with Witte wind deflectors (like 42 0001) or without wind deflectors (like 52 001).
