I would expect it to use the same program as the cs2 does. I see no reason for it to have a different interface.

No Alan...the soft program for the CS3 is not the same as CS2.

The PC version of the CS2 software is available for Windows and for Mac.
You don't need a PC for upgrades. If you use a PC, then any PC with support for USB thumb drives (Windows, Linux, Mac) can be used.

AFAIK the sound decoder software is available for Windows only.

Really? You keep saying these things without pointing people at the information.

Where is the information that says it doesn't use the same program ???

By watching video in the youtube from the Nuremberg messe says at all.
Not even the same program like CS2.
If you want same interface in both CS3 and the old CS2,you need to upgrade CS2 to same program like CS3,which i do have very hard to believe that.

Mellow A bit of confusion here ... kiwiAlan is writing about the PC Program, which is probably the same for CS2, CS3 and CS3 Plus. The user interface of the CS3 is different from CS2, and I suppose goofy is referring to that "program" - or software.

It seems the CS3 has enhanced capabilities with respect to designing your layout for the layout control screen.
It is an interesting question whether the CS2 (currently at version 4.1) or the PC software (currently at version 3.8.1) will be able to work with a layout designed in the CS3.

The CS3 has "multi touch" and the CS2 software will have to be different due to hardware limitations.

Time will tell which incompatibilities there will be.
Someone from Märklin said they were hoping to ship the CS3 in the first half of 2016. Wait and see.

Just because you don't agree with what I've written, does not automatically make my comments untrue. We know you have a bias against the CS2, but you're the only person I know of who doesn't like it.

The MM 2016/1 article state
"Übrigens: Wer diese Funktionalität über einen ergänzenden PC oder über Apps für Tablet-PC und Smartphone nutzen möchte, wird auch bei der CS3 nicht enttäuscht: Entsprechende Lösungen sind bereits in Vorbereitung. "

(googly translation : if someone could correct the grammar/meaning it would be appreciated)
"By the way: Who this functionality through a additional PC or apps for tablet PC and Smartphone would like to use, will not be disappointed even if the CS3: Corresponding solutions are already in preparation."

p.s. the rest of the article adds little or nothing to what is already known. For some reason there is a general regurgitation of "features" rather than "benefits"

Re "googly translation": Users of the CS3 won't be disappointed, a solution (referring to PC version and app) is already in preparation.

So users of a CS2 might be disappointed. At least the quote does not say something on the contrary.

In other words: There will be an update of the PC software and the mobile app to make them compatible with the CS3. I would be surprised if the updated apps don't work with CS2 as well...

A good windows application could make some current CS2 owners not buy a CS3/CS3plus.

Considering the quality of the previous Windows application we can be confident it will be the same quality, and so it will be good
in demo mode!

Which is essentially what I was trying to tell goofy, but for him that would mean the PC program and the mobile thingy apps are 'incomplete' because they need an update ... Blink

What on the hell do you know about the truth??
Do you see difference between CS2 and CS3?
I do and it´s not even same software.
So truth is that.
If Märklin also do more upgrades for the software in the CS2,i don´t know.
But one thing i know about CS3,is that you will get new software.
