Sorry that the pictures are not the best. I just received this car and am new to Marklin trains. I am an avid modern united states modeler. Just curious how to replace these broken wheels on this passenger car to make it run once more. As you can hopefully see from the blurry pictures, the flanges have deteriorated. Are the wheels/axles the same today as they were back then? So that I could just get 3 new wheels/axles and replace them. I would need to replace 3 of the 4 axles. This car is from 1952. Thank you for all of your input.

Hi,

If your coach has the large straight axles (which I assume from the picture) here's my source for such part.

It is important to choose the 28 mm axle length (even though the product description says "for freight wagons"...)
The 29 mm axles were for the previous generations 341 and 351 tin plate coaches.

Hope this helps

Excellent. I'll just have to see where I can get them in the states. I don't want to have to spend for the shipping... One more thing. How do the trucks/bogies come apart. I removed truck from the car itself, but am unsure how the truck comes apart to replace the wheel sets.

Thank you!!

Definitely excited about getting these up and running. I'll have to make some sort of a layout set in Deutschland!!!

Never mind. I see that it looks like a clip on the back of the side of the truck that holds it on.

Hi

The axles normally just pull out by levering the side of the frame gently. To replace they just click back into place with a little effort.

Hello, Another great source of parts for older Marklin items is Eckert Engineering. They offer a good supply of Marklin parts.

I would try either Ritter Restaurationen or APC-Adams (APC Miniaturmodell) in Germany. If they can ship the parts to you in an envelope, it will only cost a few EUR.
Much better than paying through your nose in the USA and then paying less for shipping.

The 346 series of coaches are fairly easy to find on ebay It may be easier to buy a cheap one on ebay just to use the wheels. Its not usual to have deteriated wheel on this series but was very common on earlier series like the 351
