One of the most popular Dutch trains ever is the socalled Mat'64,first introduced in green in 1964.
Nicknamed "Monkeyhead" it was used all over Holland for regional and local traffic.
Especially during wintertime it was considered very reliable.
The only drawback was that they were rather noisy.

It has now been decided to keep the remaining trains in service for at least part of 2016 due to a general shortage of material, new trains have been ordered but are not ready yet,so the gap has to be bridged.
They of course get the required maintenance and safety approval.

Years ago Fleischmann issued a rather nice model, also for AC.
Marklin have issued the cousin for the Dutch postal services, using the same cabins,in various colors, nice model too.
See M 3386 for example.
Because of the immenent departure, perhaps M could consider to issue a metal H0 model, that would be nice!

Roco also made various versions, also for AC.
They made the original green version with yellow stripes from 1964 too.
None of these have a metal hood, and that is the power of Marklin.

Greetings Paul,

You wanna tell us about what you saw?
And what else did you see in Holland which astounded you?
Sometimes we Dutch need a mirror before we start to think we are perfect all the way, hahaha.

Cheers,

Paul.
