I have a nice Marklin 4-6-0 loco that is supposed to work on 5935 (1020mm) radiuss curves. However the front trucks keep popping off the track on the curves. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Tim,

That is a nice loco you have there!
According to sources on internet the radius of 1,020 mm is the absolute minimum for this loco.
Probably it only runs properly on this radius at very slow speed.
May i suggest you buy some larger radius track?
She is worth it!

I can only speak from a experience from a HO scale lok but is there spring or a piece of metal that acts like one that keeps tension on the front boogies? Perhaps that needs to be adjusted or perhaps there is a screw loose or missing - Fred

Hi Tim,

The 5747 (DB class 38, early version) should run also on 1020mm curves properly. I would also assume that the small spring (#23 on the spare part sheet) which should press the bogie on the tracks is missing.

Tim,

I have a marklin BR 38, in 1 of course, and to get it to run on the 1020mm track i removed the tension spring and put a weight on the very front of the truck. The spring can restrict the movement, therefore the wheels derail.

Hope this helps,

Pieter
