Loconet would enable a Marklin user to use Intelliboxes as a remote slave (yes I know you can do this with the CS2), also the ability to be able to use the Uhlenbrock physical remote control devices and the Uhlenbrock track control panel technology. You may even be able to use the 8 amp boosters (but maybe not).

Intellibox users would get access to a device with a large flat screen. It would mean I could use a CS3 as a remote device on our club's Gauge 1 layout, which is Intellibox / Loconet based.

I'm sure there would be many other advantages.

Well for me it would be great if there was a Loconet interface on the CS3.
I have a Uhlenbrock Track Control switchboard which is now connected to my CS2 via a 6021+Connect 6021 device.
Although it has it's limitations (you have to separate the address range of the Track Control and the CS2 regarding switches/signals, otherwise the whole system goes into a stop state) I like using a 'real' Switchboard for my layout.

Furthermore I use Lissy so switch the sound of my locs off/on when entering a hidden part of the layout until they reappear.

But as Marklin has improved the Layout part on the CS3...l am not sure if they will include a Loconet port on the CS3.

I really do like the new Interface seen on the CS3 in the video.

Jos

I think it is the other way around, and has little to do with the controllers.

The advantages are all the functional devices that a Marklin system does not (currently) provide

I don't understand the difference between the CS3 and the CS3plus. Maybe the only difference is it will only can deliver more power to the rails and devices.
I say this because in the figure it appears in a position that suggest it is a slave from the CS3, and so it seems it is also working as a controller and super booster.
Best regards,
Miguel

Speculation: CS3 is withou buttons functions, only 7" monitor... and CS3+ is with the buttons like CS2 but with new processor....

We don't know as yet because we haven't been told what the differences are between the CS3 and CS3+

No, that's actually a CS2 that the CS3+ is hanging off in the diagram. I don't know what that means, and whether there is any significance regarding the single connecting line going to the CS3+.

In the images we can see an image of the CS3+ connected like the CS2 to the CS3. It doesn't have any function buttons, but it maybe just kind of an icon that really doesn't represent the real thing...

Relative to the CS3+ link to the CS2, I assume it means a CS2 maybe connected to a CS3, as well as a CS3+ maybe connected to a CS3, with CS3 being the master.

Off course this is just my opinion and complete speculation...

In the systems diagram the CS3+ is shown as having the same screen size as the CS3. Given that the new 7" screen occupies some of the real estate that is used by the function buttons on the CS2 (CS2 and CS3/CS3+ seem to have a similar case), I don't think the CS3+ has function buttons.

As the video pans, it looks to me like an original USB B connector, which may make sense - a lot of (non-technical) people find setting up a network connection to be a pain, so offering an alternate connection to a PC might not be a bad thing.

With all those USB connectors; one for the keyboard & mouse, one for the usb key (icons upload aso). I was thinking if the 3rd one was for their new Decoder Programmer 60971! So user without PC could use the new decoder programmer directly with the CS3.

It's no use being impatient in this case because all the Märklin goodies that will be announced today come with a price tag. No presents for us, I'm afraid, but only more invoices ... Wink

Yes more invoices to be edited by my supplier. he will be happy as I don't look at the price tag, and he will receive my order today as soon as the PDF is online.

Still speculating:

If the CS3+ is just more powerful output, then I guess there will be no startsets with CS3+, but just with MS2-color and CS3. This will make the option of dismantling startsets to sell CS3 not available for CS3+ and as such I think the CS3+ will always be very expensive when compared to the CS3.
Best regards,
Miguel

The difference between CS3 and CS3+ is not the power output. It is a direct S88 connection with RJ45 and a Märklin bus input if I understood well.

Well, everyone is obviously hitting the marklin web site pretty hard, as it took an age to open.

There is not just the NI brochure but web pages for the other major NI as well.

Oh, and the NI brochure PDF is here in all languages .

And the Trix ones are here.

I think you're thinking of the Gold Coast in Aussie where sun up is at that time, and where they don't have daylight saving. Here we have daylight saving, it is 5:20am and the sun is just starting to peek through the clouds. I got woken up by the high winds outside, so I thought I might as well download the brochure and have a look......................fat chance!

You will probably just have to let the marklin site come back to you. When I opened the page it took an absolute age to open, and that was at 15:30 UK time, i.e. 30 mins after opening. Once i got to the NI page the brochures downloaded pretty rapidly.

can't say I am wildly excited by it either. There are a few items I will look at getting, but so far much of my money is safe. Maybe I'll be able to get some locos from last year that I didn't want to commit to then.

Most disappointed at the differences between the cs3 and cs3+ - certainly do not look like 100 Euro worth, even if some of it is hidden in the software. I'm not sure the cs3+ won't flop.

Intrigued by the 'joystick' controller for the battery My World sets, and (some?) come with rechargeable batteries in the train.

Some items are of interest to me:

26603 Bavarian freight train with G5/5
26602 Kof II freight set
39648 Br064 Era IV
37728 Br628.2 railcar
36218 Br216
405xx IC coaches
37868 Red Arrow

None of these are new tooling, but they are favourites of mine that I don't have examples of in my collection.

Of the new toolings I might be tempted by the Siemens Vectron Electric.

Seems the new color display of the new dark grey MS2 has many colors in blue and white...
Best regards,

Is it me or are there a lot of reissues of very recent models with hardly any changes? (only roadnumbers or weathering) Also it seems a lot of last years new items which were not delivered yet are in here, and I am missing some stuff from Stevens unofficial list. (39042?, BR42 DRB where are you?)

I don't understand the LINT starter set. Could you make a starter set any more boring than that one? Just one non-articulated railcar? (to answer my own question: yes, leave out the switches...)

Hardly anything for an era II collector like me.

That said, some things are nice, I did not get the G 5/5 and now it comes in a set with car models I do not yet have any of.

And with my Ecos I showing signs of age (purchased in 2005) it might be a good time to switch to CS3.

Bert

Love Drool This is just terrible and wonderful. I feel like I'm 12 again, ogling my catalogs. Beautiful Era III stuff; budget [+time] FD will not approve. Great to know there is always something new to consider adding to the empire. Mention nothing of the slick CS3 ad.

In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?

The list that shows the ETAs should be available later this months.

No sign yet of a new H0 scale steamer series 44 ("Jumbo").
Rumours have it that it is on list for this year.
Could be the second Insider model.....

Expecting more new items somewhere in springtime, perhaps some more USA tinplate boxcars,NS Intercity coaches new style with white arrows on doors,NS electric loco series 1300,NS Mat'64 commuter train, who knows......

Nice brochure with a lot of new expensive items, but not for me.
Will concentrate on buying more analogue loco's at more affordable prices.

Well, the Swiss steamer looks very tempting. Some of the cars are a must have. I have the BR 50 with cabtender and the insider BR 95 with carset on order. The BR 10 is a beautiful locomotive, but I have the first edition of that locomotive.
