Hi!

Dealer writes "BR 50" (Märklin never made a mould for BR 51):

Picture shows an unweathered loco.

No cab tender.

Tom

Tom,
But wasn't 37841, with a Telex coupler, released in 2001, one BR 051? This loco comes with a cabin tender. What exactly can the difference be between 050 and 051?
Best regards,
Armando García

There is no difference between BR 050, BR 051, BR 052, and BR 053 (formerly all were BR 50). There is a big difference between BR 50, BR 51, BR 52, and BR 53. Leading zeroes matter.
BR 042 is BR 41, not BR 42.
BR 043 is BR 44, not BR 43.

BR 51 was 0-6-6-0, "BR 53" was 0-6-0. No cab tenders.
Regards
Tom

The new number system in era IV had only three digits for the serial number. More then 3000 BR 50 machines where build, so the serial numer of the last BR 50 was 3xxx. Since no BR 52 machines where left in 1968, they used the first digit in the old serial number.
Was there ever a BR 51?

So 50 0001 became 050 001, 50 1234 became 051 234 and so on
