I'll visit San Diego and San Francisco during the Christmas Break. Any recommended Marklin shops in those areas? I'll have a car in SD, and only use public transportation in SF.

Thank you.

While in the SF area be sure to go to the Blackhawk museum in Danville near SF. The ETE has its largest layout of the year there. Lots of European trains running and good displays as well.

Most shops have closed n the area, but I think Chans trains on Van Ness is still there. See also Talbots hobbies in San Mateo.

I agree with Dave (Mr. Marklin) Chans is really only worth the stop if you like old Lionel (they have a pretty cool selection) or just plain looking around. Their Marklin stock is between 10-20 years old and brutally overpriced. That being said they do very rarely get some cool old collections which pricing can be fair on.

Talbots is a good bet, but I don't think they really stock much anymore. Internet ordering killed the bulk of their Marklin business, but they still keep a little bit in stock.
