Hello
New to the forum and just getting back into HO railroading.
I have an old Marklin 6021 digital control station with a 6001 transformer.
I am considering purchasing a 60653 Mobile Station Controller.
What other equipment, if any, is required to use the 60653 controller with
my existing control station and transformer? My set is AC in the USA.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi, Steven,

Welcome to the forum.

You will also need a 60113 track box.

You will need a plug to connect your transformer to the track box (I don't have the Märklin spare part number at hand). I'd recommend getting a switching mode power supply instead of the transformer.
66365 is the power supply Märklin offer for US.

Maybe you can get 60653, 60113, and power supply from a starter set. No original box, but usually much cheaper.
Regards
Tom

If you mean, use it as a second controller, in tandem with the 6021, I do not believe that is possible.

There is an interface to hook the 6021 up to a Central Station (Märklin Connect 60128), but I don't think that interface has the intelligence built in to work directly with the Mobile Station. It requires functions provided only by the Central Station.

You're thinking of Märklin 610718, cable to connect power supply to 60113.

Correct.

I assumed the 60653 was meant to replace the 6021. Blushing

It is possible to use a MS2 with a 6021 by using an Uhlenbrock 63 820 LocoNet Adaptor connected to an Uhlenbrock 63 810 Mobile Station Adaptor.. If the MS2 and MS3 share the same plug then it might be possible to use this to connect a MS3 to a 6021..

Ok thank you for all quick responses.
I understand better now. The mobile station replaces the 6021
but I will need a track box for sure and perhaps a new 66365 power supply

Yes, it can be considered a replacement for the 6021.

As was stated before, you can usually find them from a parted out starter set on eBay and some dealers. If that is the case, they normally come with a power supply and track interface.

One nice thing is that if you want a second control (60653), two can be plugged into one track interface (60113). Only one track interface can be connected to the track at a time, and you only need one power supply. That does save a little bit

The Uhlenbrock adapter works with the MS1, but AFAIK not with the MS2.
