Hello everyone,
I have a question about the difference between two 326 Jamaica 52-55 version.
Of course that is strange to talk about 2 versions of the same version but here is my question.

Below the version of wheels that i always knew:
326.JPG

And below the version of wheels i see for the first time:
326_.JPG

I bought the second one and noticed the difference by comparing to the one i already had.
Did i get ripped off? :)

I think it is just well used, and the plating has worn off the wheels.

It's not just the same wheels that are worn. The brass-looking ones also have a bush where the wheel meets the axle and the wheel profile is finer. Could these be insulated wheels that a previous owner has fitted to allow it to run on a DC layout?

Hello,

the second ones aren't Märklin. Also in old days wheel-sets were replaced to use Märklin cars on other (2-rail) systems. Märklin started to sell wheels for 2-rail operation in 1966. Before model railroaders had to buy their wheels at other manufacturers.

Markus

Hello,
Thank you for your answers.
Then it seems that long time ago, wheels were replaced.
I will check all my Märklin cars now! Just in case...

Hi,

it would be also interesting to find out were these wheels came from. I first suspected the classic french manufacturers: VB or SMCF but I didn't find anything similar. The also do seem to come from POCHER.

Markus

Hi,
Markus you might be on the right way about POCHER.

Here's a picture i found online:

POCHER.JPG

Not the same wheels sizes but really look like mine.

In addition, i get this second picture from the guy i bought the 326:

Gambrinus_.JPG

Another Märklin (325 "Gambrinus") with the same "custom" wheels.
Probably from the same source!

P.S / I had no discount from him for finding this BigGrin
