I can understand that Marklin discontinues certain items such loks and passenger cars but why freight cars like the 4867? I would like to make a military train but the current Marklin offerings are none for a heavy duty flat car. Sometimes it seems that they are more interested in beer cars and special one time editions. As all my equipment is Marklin I would like to keep it the same. Any other opinions on this? Fred

Hi Fred, if they've made it before you should find it on Ebay. Marklin freight stock is generally quite common on the second hand market.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Hi Fred,
I recently purchased from eBay.de the 4866 car (comes with Kaelble tractor) which is the same as the 4867.

It has not arrived yet, but I think the 4866 has no stakes, whereas the 4867 has stakes, which I prefer.

Also, the 4866 and 4867 cars are one of the few Marklin (or any brand) models with plain DR lettering for the period 1942- 1948 approximately.
In that sense, they are interesting, but not in high demand.
You can certainly buy these on ebay.de, and they seem to be continually available at one price or another.

regards
Kimball

I'm trying to make a military train loaded with Tiger 1 tanks. Is 4867 the appropriate flat car? I did a search on Marklin's website and 4866 and 4867 are the two heavy duty flat cars in that period.

Also look at the Artitec flat cars. They are very nice as well, with 2, 4 and 6-axle versions, multiple road numbers and small variations. They fit very well with Marklin (buffer height). They also are a little bit more detailed than Marklin. I have several (fitted with AC wheels and Marklin NEM couplers) that make up a nice train. Very good running characteristics, no issues with buffers interfering with couplers or anything.

Some pictures here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2848819 (this is something I designed to make sure the panzers didnt fall of)

4867 is no longer available since 2010.

The 48693 and 48694 also available. Marklin database image not showing stakes but Stakes and chock blocks are included.

I check ebay and seen bags of stakes.

Thank you for the information.

Artitec flat car definitely is an option. I also looked at their tanks and they have Tiger 1 that look really nice. I got a set of flat car+Leopard 2A6 from 26606. The tanks are Schuco's and very well made and sturdy, and heavy too. I don't know if Artitec's tanks have the same quality, maybe better.

Hi Bert,
Did you get the basic frame from 3D printing?
