Hi Everybody BigGrin

I have made an excel table with the numbers of turn outs . I followed the table of Marklin annexed to the decoder.

I have 8 old decoders (74460) and new decoders (74461)

I think that I did a great mistake, because in my excel table the turn out #5 has the address 5, according to is if a old decoder is used or a new.

But in fact it this turn out #5 occupy the place 8 on the keyboard of the CS2, another address (8 of the CS2) appears and it is the one that it is necessary to use, I think no?

Thus it seems to me that it is important to follow the addresses given by the cs2, especially if I insert between 2 turns outs a signal or other one.

I hope to have been precise,... it is an important question.... I wait for the answer to continue

Thank you for your reply

Hi!

I'm afraid I don't understand.

In the CS2 you can select between old and new decoders. This is only relevant to have the CS2 display the correct DIP switch settings.
Address 5 is address 5. But for a 74460 decoder use the table from the 74460 manual, for a 74461 decoder use the 74461 manual.

Sometimes decoders are faulty and respond to address 6 while it should be 5 or something like that.
Regards
Tom

this is what I name the place 4 of the keyboard

what you see here (adress 5 of the cs2 ) in my excel table this is adress 4 and this is my great mistake ...because I have configurated all my decoders by following the excel table based on the table of decoder Marklin.....I did not follow the CS2 like this

I hope that it is understandable what I try to explain

The contact in the little slide switch goes faulty and doesn't make contact anymore. It may also become intermittent with vibration.

Hi everybody Cool

Would the addresses 4 and 5 of the keyboard be defective and in this case, it is better not to use them, no?

Pass at the address 7 would be the good solution, I don't know . I am not a specialist of the cs2. I think that Marklin is miserly of information about the correct use of the cs2. I did some research on internet and I did not find a lot of information

Hello everybody Cool

I had joined on this forum to be possibly able to receive from the assistant seen the very high number of members worldwide. The first question was positively solved and thank you again for the received informations.

The second only... an answer at the beginning... but then the total silence. The problem always exists. I tried to configure 12 turn outs on the keyboard of the cs2. All my turn outs has 74460 or 74461 (8 old and 4 new) The layout contains 40 turn outs (8 74460 32 74461) .

On 12 configured only 4 turn outs work, 8 don't . I almost gave up yesterday and resell all my matos marklin seen the absence of help on this problem. But I decided to pursue that I receive from the help here or not. My dealer is going to help me

I am only a little disappointed ....can be that I badly expressed myself.

Have a nice day

Hi!

Sorry to hear you have problems configuring your turnout decoders in CS2.
The process is like this:

1) All switch decoders must have their own address. Set address on the decoder DIP-switch. Instruction found here:

2) Set the correcsponding address for the switchposition in your "cs2 keyboard". The process is described here:

Hope this helps.

It surely does not help to discuss one problem in two or three threads.

We can only look at the information you provide and look for errors you may have made. If you don't know where the problem is, then it is better to provide too much information than too little.

And I have to admit that so far to me it is unclear what you are asking. English is not my native language, neither is it yours. That surely does not make things easier.

Tom

I think that it is a "physical" problem which exceeds my skills and my understanding.

I have curent on the born A and O of the turn out …but the motor do not work as if the motors did not receive electric impulse

I don’t understand this absence of reaction. Something smells fishy in the engine or something else.

So the cs2 and the not working turnouts will be send to Mike

Have a nice day

I´m glad to see that you are still with us.
I dont run digital, so my help probably wont be huge, but I think you must try a different apporoach;
Use a simple setup; just the CS, power and 1 decoder and 1 switch-motor. Nothing else connected. Set the decoder to one of the addresses that you know works, and then try each motor individually one by one, in this minimal setup. (You could even powercycle the CS before each test ?!)
If the switch-motor has cutoff-contact, you must assure that they are not permanently cut off (which can be the case with K-track motors, when these contacts gets "tired")
You can also try mixing decoders and switch-motors; Combine decoders that work, with switch-motors that dont work, and vice-versa.
Best regards

I hope you made the standard checks: never swap red and brown, not with the CS2 track connection, not with the decoder connection. Red to B, brown to 0.

The 74490/1 turnout motors fail quite often.Repeat the test with a turnout motor that worked. Just plug the motor into the decoder without installing it into the turnout.
With the new decoders 74461 yellow must be connected even if no lights are connected to the decoder.
When setting DIP switches make sure to use the correct code table.

Tom

Most likely. Worth a try with the yellow cable in place again.
