Hey guys,

I haven't been on here for a long time now but still have my models etc. and await the day I can build my era3a layout.

In the meantime, I just got back from my holiday to Europe for the first time. Of course I took train photos:)

Here is the album:

Quite a few pics from Zurich. Also from Munich and a pic from Italy (maybe La Spezia)

ICE1, ICE3, quite a few class 120 and 111. Managed to snap a Swiss mini croc of some sort and also a German croc. A few swiss 420's and 4/4's etc.

Anyways take a look.

Hello Eric,

My wife and I liked seeing your photos!

Which photo was from La Spezia?
(Curious since we have been there.)

The big Grundig add in the glass is Munich Hbf, is that correct?

I always love seeing the catenary lines as well....
...and liked the old rebuild Umbauwagen which fits the timeline of my study and hobby.

Thanks for sharing,
Mark

I am glad you liked the photos!

The first photo is from Italy though I am not sure if it is La Spezia or Milan or somewhere in between. We caught a train between those two locations.

Not sure what you mean by 'Grundig'? Could be Munich or Zurich, depends on which photo.

Yes I also noticed the umbau and was frantic to photo it:D They actually had the tri-axial cars from the early 50's next to it but they were all gutted and re-used for storage (couldn't get a good photo)

The first photo certainly could be La Spezia, but the background is a bit generic so hard to be certain.
The hotel we stayed in was right across the street from the station.

The Grundig advertisement is in the glass window and I think it has been there a for a long time.
It appeared in your photo here: http://i.imgur.com/1vkQnHE.jpg

Here you can see it in the inverse, since you are meant to view it from inside the hall.

Must have been a treat to see the 3 axle even if gutted.
Most of the Umbauwagen appear to be from the mid-50s.

Ah yes the station with 'Grundig' is Munich Hbf.

Yes it was quite exciting when I saw the 3 axle cars, I never expected to see something so old! Disappointed I didn't get the photo though.
They looked much the same as the set 43172/43182/43192 that I own.

Hello Eric,

Great trainspotting !

I have also had the opportunity of trainspotting at Zurich and Munich and Goppingen and Frankfurt and it's super to see the originals and to hear the sounds of the locomotives close up.

Too right John,
The close up sound changes everything!!
.... I do love the sound decoders,
but hearing it vibrate through your body is the hum of inspiration.
