Hello,

Does some of you have a 37516 (MHI weathered BR56.2-8) that arrived with the chimney closed? If yes how did you opened it?

Miguel

Hi Glen and MrMarklin,

Thanks for your replies.
I know it must have the smoke unit. What I am saying is different: the loco came with the top of the chimney closed Confused
The chimney has a "roof", so I can't see when looking from the top what is inside. I don't know if is paint (kind of flatened dried buble) or a cover.
If it is a cover it seems that the only way to remove it is push from the inside and
for that I need to open the loco (something I am trying to avoid to do at the moment).

Did your 37516 came with the top of the chimney open, just like all other M* steamers?

Miguel

Hi Miguel,

It might be just a paint bubble, try giving it a gentle prod with a needle !?

Hi Glen,

Thanks for your suggestion. Just did it with a needle and worked! :)

It was very important for me to know that the other 37516s didn't came with that cover because knowing this it was not a problem to damage the "cover".

How I did it:
I first checked it was soft, then with a needle perfurated in the center, something that happened with very light force.
After that I took the needle away from the vertical to approximately 45 degrees and gently pulled up. The thin circle of paint (seemed thin rubber) came out easily.

Once more, thanks a lot!!

Ray,

I will post pictures of the loco this week. I wil also take a picture at the paint cover of the chimney, but off course out of the chimney. Thanks also for your reply!

Miguel

Hi again,

Before I talked about a dried paint flattened bubble. I am not sure if was it or if it was some thin rubber used in the factory during the painting/weathering process in order to protect the inside of the chimney...
Anyway all is now ok and the loco looks superb! In my opinion the last loco weatherings by M* are much better than before because they don't show so much rust as their previous loco weatherings. I have to say I am really impressed with the good looks of the loco.
