Hello everyone... I just purchased another MAXI locomotive for my collection. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 buffers broke off during transit. Does anyone here know where I can find replacements? Is there an LGB-compatible item? Thanks.

That is a nice loco!
Should buy it myself.

The sparepartcode is E177103 but Marklin does not show it is a stockitem.
Perhaps you could ask them if it is still available.

Eurospoor in Utrecht NL is coming up,perhaps someone (me?) could look around there, you never know.

In the past when looking for parts like this I have had success with a saved search on Ebay.de. However, I would say in general I would wait 6 months or sometimes more before one popped up.

Eurospoor might be a great opportunity for sure... it's been years since I passed through Utrecht (must get back sometime again soon). If you don't mind looking, I'd really appreciate it. I'll continue to look at Ebay.de and elsewhere and keep you posted on my progress. Thanks again

It is worth asking a retailer like Lokshop for it. They will be able to hunt them down if they are still available.

Hello,

unfortunately these buffers are known to become breakable like glass with the years. They are sold out since years. The last ones which I got weren't better than the ones on the loco, I broke one of the spares while mounting.
I would replace them with ordinary MAXI-buffers. I know, that's not nice, but a loco looks better with any buffer instead of a broken one.

Regards

Markus

Thanks for the information everyone. I'm sure if need be I can find a suitable part from the current Gauge 1 parts listing... as Markus notes, it's better to have a buffer than none at all BigGrin

Good news: I just received word from Maerklin that Part #403039 is a suitable replacement. I may need to order extras as Markus noted the originals seem to get brittle with age.

Thanks for this information.. My dealer has ordered 10 for me.. We now have three Maxi locos and a good stack of wagons including a crane.. So I expect that these 10 parts will be consumed fairly quickly.. Blushing

Hi Adrian,

most MAXI-cars and locos use the metal-buffer 493520, these cars and locos are not affected.
HEGOB also sells a version with spring: http://www.hegob.de/aktmaxi.de.htm .

Markus

My dealer has just told me that the metal-buffer 493520 is no longer available from Marklin. I do have a broken one. I have ordered the other ones anyway, so we can see if I can make use of those..

Aside from the Maxi locos and wagons we do also have the three wagon booze set ( Glass wagon, with a wagon of thermos and cup and tongs), the bob cat wagon and 2 or 3 museum wagons.. So the dodgy buffers will have some use for us..
